About the work

When I lived in California, I would spend hours in the woods looking for different kinds of mushrooms. It felt like a treasure hunt, never knowing exactly what I would come upon but sure that I would see things I had never seen before! The diversity of shapes, colors, sizes, textures, and smells never ceased to amaze. Here, I've playfully drawn a pair of blewit mushrooms in gouache and India ink.
