DIY Wedding: Watercolor Ceremony Program (with Printable!)

By Lauren Saylor of  A Fabulous Fete

DIY Program

When I’m creating pieces for a wedding, I’m constantly thinking about ways to make them fun and functional, as well as something guests will actually want to take home after the wedding’s over. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never saved a ceremony program from any of the weddings I’ve attended in the past (except my own, of course!). But I thought that adding an artful element to the program cover—like a romantic quote done in watercolor—would transform a functional program into a keepsake your guests might enjoy later, perhaps framing and displaying it at home or pinning it to a bulletin board at work. I’m always collecting inspiring quotes on Pinterest and this is one of my current favorites, and it’s certainly one many soon-to-be-married couples might be able to relate to!

Read on to download the ceremony-program cover and for instructions on how to make your own ceremony-program booklets.

Wrapping a gift with paper is not my forte. I can never get the corners to lay flat and the sides end up looking bedraggled (can paper look bedraggled?). I’d much rather have a good box or bag and slap something cute on top. These toppers are a cinch and there are a plethora of designs you could create.

Wedding Trends: Everything You Need To Know for 2014

You may have already guessed: We love unique designs. We do. It’s absolutely true. We also love superior quality and luxury but most of all we love love in every way. No matter how you slice the cake love brings out the best in everything and while everything we’ve just mentioned is important to us, what brings us the most joy is getting to be a part of your special day.

Because we are so lucky to be a part of that special day, we thought we would thank you by sharing some of what we have learned about creating the most memorable wedding day moments. We spoke to Wedding Industry Photographer, Christina McNeill, about the most wonderful wedding trends she is seeing in 2014.

Let us just say, that everything is fresh. From calligraphy and hand written fonts in wedding stationery (like the Traditional Royalty Letterpress Design by Two Thirteen Studio above) to painters that do live painting at weddings and croquembouche cakes – we now bring you the top, need to know, wedding trends of 2014 and a few trends we hope to set into motion.

Every 2 Minutes

Every 2 minutes, a woman somewhere in the world dies from complications of pregnancy or childbirth.

I serve as a board member for Every Mother Counts, a non-profit founded by Christy Turlington Burns to save women’s lives by providing women around the world with access to healthcare during pregnancy and childbirth.  In honor of Mother’s Day and the moms in both our customer and our designer/artist communities, I thought I would share with you a trip I took with Christy and the rest of the Every Mother Counts board to Haiti.

Summer Hand Fan Favors

Urban Baby bunting and pretty thaumatrope giant confetti used to make simple summer hand fansOutdoor events and warm weather bring the perfect reason to break out fan favors (here in the sweltering south, we’ve perfected the art of fanning up our own breezes!) I’ve assembled a simple hand fan using re-purposed minted confetti and circular bunting. Try them as wedding favors to pull in a colorful pattern, a sweet quote or even a personalized initial. These can be easily assembled in no time flat, but look like you ordered a completely custom fan set.

Design to Dish: An Easter Egg Hunt

Written by Melissa of Lulu the Baker

carrot cake easter egg hunt inspiration

It seems like the weather just warmed up, and Easter is already right around the corner. What better way to celebrate the holiday than with a classic Easter Egg Hunt! Playing outside in the warm sunshine with flowers blooming all around; eating sweet Spring treats; beautiful, nature-inspired decor, and fun crafts–it all sounds so dreamy!

A classic carrot cake is the perfect dessert for an Easter get-together. This carrot cake recipe is my very favorite: two moist layers filled with fresh carrots and crushed pineapple, smothered with a sweet and tangy cream cheese frosting. Oh my! I’m like a kid at an Easter egg hunt just thinking about it!
