Written by Annie Montgomery of  MontgomeryFest

Whether this weekend has you curling your hair for a fancy-pants dinner or curling up on the couch in your coziest pair of socks, you’ll need some sweet tunes to hum along to. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite romantic jams—consider it my valentine to you: the perfect soundtrack for your February 14.

The Perfect Cocktail Party Playlist

If you’re hosting a holiday soirée this weekend but aren’t sure what tunes to cue up, look no further. I’ve compiled the perfect party playlist for those in need of fresh, mingle-ready melodies.

Selecting music is one of the most fun steps when you’re hosting a party—I usually try to pick a mix of songs that are upbeat and festive, but aren’t overly recognizable and distracting. This playlist includes mix of musical genres, and all songs are guaranteed to induce head-bobbing and mingling. Just remember to set the volume at a moderate level—conversation comes first, so keep it low enough to talk easily, yet robust enough to give your gathering a vibrant energy. Print the track list below in case any inquiring minds want to know; you could also give the playlist to guests as a take-home party favor. Enjoy!

Party Inspiration: Planning a Birthday Camping Trip

simple camping trip birthday ideas

camping trip birthday inspiration My little guy’s 3rd birthday is coming up, and we’re planning an overnight family camping trip to celebrate. Inspired by Paper and Parcel’s Pow Wow invite, the party vibe I’ve pulled together is a little bit Wilderness Explorer, a little bit Boy Scout, and a lot of simplicity. We’re foregoing the fuss, leaving the extras at home, and making an escape into the wild (well… sort of—a toddler still needs a bathroom nearby!). Take a peek at my inspiration for our wilderness getaway, along with some of the fun details that we’ll pack along to keep things in the birthday spirit.

Minted Parties: Savannah Guthrie’s Baby Shower

It’s not every day that you get to help decorate and style a baby shower for the co-anchor of the Today Show, so we jumped at the chance to decorate Savannah Guthrie’s baby shower. Since she’s such a talented anchorwoman (and also a voracious reader!), we decided on a newspaper theme with a lot of typography and gender-neutral details (she and her husband Mike Feldman decided to keep the gender a surprise!).

Rebecca Minkoff’s Baby Shower

We were honored to get to style and decorate designer Rebecca Minkoff’s baby shower for her second little one on the way. Any great event starts with a great venue. And even though it’s a bit off the beaten track, Fitzarraldo in Brooklyn was rustic, chic perfection. After you’ve secured a date and venue, what’s next? Why, the invitations, of course! The great thing about planning an event for a designer is I could simply pull up her site and ended up finding inspiration in the ‘tortora’ color of this bag
