Christmas has come early at Minted and for Oscar+Emma, who won Woman’s Day Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Mayhew‘s special judge’s prize. Her Nordic Snowflake design was featured in a full page of Woman’s Day’s Special Christmas issue, on newsstands from September through Christmas.
Doesn’t her stunning design, which also won the judge’s prize from design work life and won third prize as voted by the community, look incredible?! I love the coordinating envelope liner–it’s the epitome of Scandinavian chic!Elizabeth is literally the authority on stationery so Karly should be quite honored! She has one, if not the, most impressive stationery collections I’ve ever seen! The New York Times even featured her stationery armoire in their Lettered Set article.
Woman’s Day has a circulation of 3,800,000, and claims a readership of more than 22 million with 15 issues a year so this page is sure to let lots of families know about Minted and Karly’s great work this holiday season! It’s really a great special issue, so be sure to pick up a copy. My personal favorite is the last page, which is all about the importance of writing a thank you note. There’s also a great 9 decades of Christmas cookie feature and some really creative gift wrapping ideas.
Thank you Elizabeth and Woman’s Day and congratulations Karly, who has had lots of great news as of late. She also just welcomed her first daughter Maeve Irene on September 13th!
Whether or not you hail from the South, you simply must pick up a copy of the latest issue of Southern Weddings.
It is simply divine and also happens to include our very own Andrea Mentzer’s Fling Wedding Invitation in a breathtaking shoot!
Have green, aqua, and a little teal ever looked so good together?
Congratulations Andrea–I definitely think you should frame this one! And kudos to Emily and all the other great gals at Southern Weddings for producing another masterpiece that I for one will be adding to my permanent magazine collection.
Tickets are $75. The event is being held at the Julia Morgan Ballroom, which is really a beautiful old-world San Francisco space with beautiful wood paneling and great views. The ticket price includes wine, heavy apps, and dessert–but most importantly this is a very worthwhile initiative that supports micro-loans to low-income women entrepreneurs and all the proceeds benefit the initiative. And really, what could be a better cause? If the 12th doesn’t work for you, take a look at additional dates in surrounding Bay Area communities. Congratulations again to Mariam and all of the other very talented women with whom she shares this honor. Cheers, cheers!!

JUMP...Comments Off on Women’s Initiative Entrepreneur of the Year Award Ceremony
We always knew Minted CEO and Founder Mariam Naficy was a force to be reckoned with, and this just reaffirms it. From more than 200 nominations, Fortune has selected Mariam and 9 other amazing women to honor as the 2010 Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs. Read more here.
Mariam will be headed to D.C. next week to speak at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, a three-day conference bringing together prominent women leaders in business, philanthropy, government, education, and the arts. She’ll be joining some pretty impressive company, and we couldn’t be prouder of our boss. Congratulations Mariam!
If you want to drop her a note, leave a comment here or find her on twitter at @mnaficy.
If you open up the latest issue of Town & Country Weddings, which hit newsstands yesterday, you’ll find this beautiful new Minted ad.
It is the first in a series of ads styled by famous bloggers. We were delighted to work with Victoria Smith of the always fascinating SF Girl by Bay. We have long marveled at how Victoria is able to find the the most unique and beautiful things and put them all together in an even more interesting way, which is exactly what she did for our shoot.
The idea behind the shoot was to include Minted’s invites in a real life inspiration board collage. It’s what we think somebody as trendy as Victoria has as her personal bulletin board, without even trying!
In the end, the winning combination featured the Social Type‘s Love Struck and Annie Clark‘s Apple Blossom. Congratulations ladies on an excellent team effort! The ad is stunning and will hopefully let lots of new brides know about our great wedding offerings.
it was me, then the photo assistant, eva kolenko (the photogrpaher), and suzanne. i don’t know the photo assistant’s name, but will ask suzanne.
Here at Minted, we just could not agree more with the Woman Entrepreneur’s mission to help low-income women to start their own businesses and become self sufficient. We work very hard to empower and enable our female designers especially to reach their full potential. Way to go Mariam and all of the other fantastic women nominated! We hope you’re all doing something fun to celebrate this weekend.
If you’re lucky enough to live in the Bay Area, make sure to go hear our founder and CEO Mariam Naficy speak to the fabulous organization Girls in Tech. Girls in Tech is a social network focused on engaging, education, and empowering women in technology. They work hard to foster collaboration, promotion, growth and the success of women generally in the technology sector. I know Mariam is really looking forward to this and we’re all excited to hear her pearls of wisdom!
Our founder and CEO Mariam Naficy has spent literally countless hours voting on each and every design ever submitted to Minted and now it’s our turn to vote for her!
She has just been nominated for the 2010 Women’s Initiative Women Entrepreneur of the Year award. We’re not really surprised because we know how fabulous she is and how incredibly hard she has worked to create Minted. It only takes a quick second (literally one click) to vote and it matters a lot because the judges are looking to gauge how engaged of a community the entrepreneur has helped create and I think everyone would agree that we have the most engaged community there is! Speaking of our community, we have so appreciated the excitement around the holiday challenge and have also been so encouraged by how genuinely nice everyone in our community is—all of the comments left on the countdown have been so positive and upbeat–so a big thank you to everyone for that as well.
We know lots of you lovebirds made plans to tie the knot over this past holiday season, as one in five engagements happens between Christmas and New Year’s. And why not? It is such a festive and cozy time of year!
And so the excitement begins… date setting, dress shopping, and our personal favorite: invites!!! A few of our new wedding invitations are already generating quite a buzz, including a full page of editorial in InStyle Weddings:
