DIY Heart Disco Ball Valentine

Valentine’s Day is coming up fast and now is the time to plan something really cool and fun to do for your loved ones. This year I am sending Valentine’s to my best girl friends. One of them will be this little heart disco ball. She’s about  8″ in diameter which is the perfect size. I heart disco balls. What’s better than a disco ball valentine? I dusted off my disco ball and added a bright red heart. Who wouldn’t want one? This DIY is one of the easiest I’ve ever done. Keeping the heart pixelated not only makes it look really cool, but even the less than occasional painter can create it. Let’s do this!

My husband and I have been married for over seven years but last Christmas was the first we actually had a real tree. The excuses were legitimate – cramped apartment, no money, traveling during the holidays, no kids to enjoy it. But even though that stopped us from having a traditional tree, I didn’t want it to ruin my attempts at being festive. So for those few years, I would make an unconventional tree to display. Here’s an example of a tree that housed our presents underneath it one year.

  • Template
  • 5-10 sheets of decorative paper
  • Crepe paper (optional)
  • Quick dry glue (such as Beacon 3-in-1) or hot glue
  • Scissors
  • Binder clips
  • Masking tape

Truth be told, I’ve never actually used place cards for a party. But since we’re doing a smaller scale Thanksgiving with friends this year, I think it would be fun to implement these illustrated portraits. At least it would garner a good laugh (or someone would leave insulted). They’re easy as long as you or a friend has basic drawing skills.
