cardboard popsicle photo backdrop

By Melanie Blodgett of You Are My Fave

Tomorrow is the first official day of summer, hip hip! To celebrate I like to throw a party where only frozen treats are served, hot fudge is flowing, and jimmies are plentiful. This year for a little additional fun I thought a photo booth was in order, so I whipped up this festive cardboard popsicle backdrop.

Fourth of July Cupcakes

By Jenny Batt, of Hank + Hunt

Nothing says Fourth of July like red, white and blue. Why not celebrate Independence Day with some red, white and blue cupcakes as the star of your summer picnic?  I recently found some cupcake dividers at my local cake supply shop, but you could make some from card stock and create your own striped cupcakes. To make it easy to fill, put each color in its own icing bag, so you can target your color exactly where you want. Why have ho-hum cupcakes when you can easily add some patriotic fun to your BBQ!

5 minute backyard flower arrangement

By Kelli Hall, a Minted Community Designer
backyard flower clippings I don’t have much of a green thumb and am guilty of letting our tiny backyard grow wild—But I love using our overgrown bushes, flowering plants and clipped herbs for a bright spot of color at my desk. Here’s how I create a simple arrangement in under five minutes.

Simple Painted Candles

By Victoria Hudgins of A Subtle Revelry

Nothing says wedding quite like a row of glowing candles, but it can sometimes be hard to find affordable candles that coordinate with wedding decor. Instead buy white tapers in bulk and spend an afternoon painting them yourself. The result is a very artistic display in the perfect color combo for your special day.

baby shower message board

By Melanie Blodgett of You Are My Fav

Last weekend I co-hosted a baby shower where over 60 people came! While I knew an organized activity was out of the question (not that I’m a fan of traditional baby shower games anyway), I wanted to create a way where guests could feel like they were participating in some small way and the mama-to-be could remember who attended. So I created this well wish board and placed it by the entrance. Here’s the easy tutorial.

DIY Giant Geometric Streamers

By: Jenny Batt of Hank and Hunt

Sometimes those party staples just won’t cut it. I love classic party decorations, but I usually like to make them a smidge more modern and fun. These geometric streamers are bigger, better and have diamonds cut out of them,  instantly updating those old standbys, the crepe paper streamers. Crepe paper folds are available in a variety of colors and you can find them online or at your favorite party store. Making your own streamers takes only minutes, I made all of these in less than 5 minutes,  and the result is simple yet extra special, perfect for your next party.
