DIY: Graduation Garland with Notebooks and Diplomas

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

If there’s one thing I love, it’s marbled paper. I can’t help but be drawn to it, no matter the circumstance. Which means I’m obsessed with Minted’s “Modern Marble” wrapping paper by Kelli Hall and have been crafting with it pretty much nonstop. Today, I used it to make this simple notebook-and-diploma garland that’s perfect if you’re hosting a graduation party. Plus, wouldn’t it be fun to ask guests to leave a note for the new grad in the little blank books?

DIY: Modern Geometric Mobile

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

I am loving all of the modern mobiles that have been popping up lately—the abstract shapes and bright colors are so whimsical and fun! I was so inspired by them that I tried my hand at making one myself using craft supplies I already had. The best part is that you can pretty much use any craft supply you like, just as long as it ties to a dowel rod! I used mostly plastic/styrofoam balls, straws, and paper. Wouldn’t it be fun to make a bunch of these to decorate for a party?

DIY: Oversize Diaper Pins for a Baby Shower

Written by Kathleen Ballos of Snowdrop & Co

I love browsing through vintage paper goods—some of the designs and patterns are so striking! Today’s DIY project was inspired by retro baby-shower wrapping paper I recently found. Since most of the baby shower decorations available at party stores are either very baby pink or baby blue, I thought it would be more interesting to use a coral instead to match these “Modern Momma” baby shower invitations by Lauren Chism. Hang a pair of giant diaper pins on the front door of the baby shower venue, or make a few as decoration for the party. You could even use real safety pins and glue them to the backs of invitation envelopes!

DIY: Giant Golden Shamrock

By Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up—do you usually decorate for the occasion? I have to say that normally I don’t do much, mostly because the majority of decorations available in stores aren’t quite my taste. This year though, I decided to make my own oversized four-leaf clover—it makes a big impact while still being a bit more subtle than some of the gaudier decorations I’ve seen.

DIY: Swan Headbands

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

Have you ever seen those plastic swan favors in the wedding section of the craft store? Usually they have cheap-looking painted details and are coated in a shiny finish. Despite all this, I knew they had the potential to be so much more. So, I gave them a little paint job, attached them onto a headband, and voila! A simple and modern accessory to wear this Valentine’s Day.

DIY: Bon Bon Bowls

By Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

I’m the first to admit that my collection of vintage glassware is becoming a problem. I buy all kinds faster than I can do anything with them! Recently I stumbled upon a few sets of milk glass ramekins at the thrift store and of course I had to scoop them up. They’ve been sitting around a while, unused, so I thought they’d be just perfect for today’s project. Fill assorted bowls with candies and wrap them with cellophane to make an even larger candy! Wouldn’t these be great as small gifts or favors for a Valentine’s Day party?
