DIY: Stork Labels for a Baby Shower

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

I’m all about taking a store-bought item and DIY-ing it into a totally new project. That’s exactly what I did with today’s DIY stork labels: I found these adorable stork cake toppers at the cake-decorating store and fell in love. Aren’t they cute? But instead of using them to top a cake, I bought a bunch and styled this flock of storks as food and drink labels for a baby shower. I love the playful touch they add to the table!

DIY: Colorful Candy Antlers

Written by Kathleen Ballos of Snowdrop & Co

Do you have a sweet tooth? I definitely do and I especially have a soft spot for gummy candies. When I saw these gorgeous wall vases, I was inspired to put a sugary spin on them. Instead of using flowers or branches as antlers, I put together some candy kebabs instead for a playful and colorful sweets display. I love the idea of setting up a bunch of these as a candy gallery wall where guests help themselves to dessert. Yum!

DIY: Papier-Mache Swan Favors

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

Lately I’ve been loving everything and anything swan-related. When I was at a cake-decorating store recently, I spotted swan-shaped plastic moulds and had to buy them. They’re originally intended for melted chocolate, but instead I used papier mâché to make these DIY swan favors. Fill the hollow interior with confetti and treats so that when guests remove the back, they’ll have a fun surprise!

DIY: Champagne Coupe Place Cards

Written by Kathleen Ballos of Snowdrop & Co

I recently discovered a cake-decorating store in my neighborhood and I can’t get enough of all the adorable cake toppers they have in stock! I saw these mini champagne coupes and immediately bought them all—they came in both clear and gold, but I love the look of the gold ones filled with pink cotton candy. At 20 cents each, they are a super affordable way to dress up your table for an upcoming bridal shower, bachelorette party, or birthday party. Cheers!

DIY: Gender-Reveal Baby Shower Pins

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

Are you hosting a baby shower this summer? If the mama-to-be is planning on revealing the baby’s gender to guests at the party, then today’s project is the perfect way to add a fun game into the mix. Make a bunch of these pink and blue prize-ribbon pins and place them in a bowl by the party entrance. As guests arrive, have them pick a blue or pink pin, depending on what they think the baby will be. When the mom-to-be makes the big announcement, you can pass out small prizes to the guests who guessed correctly!

DIY: Paper Coaster Garland

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

Recently I’ve been inspired by vintage paper coasters—there are so many gorgeous designs, especially some of the floral-patterned ones. After browsing for what must have been ages, I finally picked out a few sets to use for this DIY garland. Some of the coasters can get pricey, so I mixed in some plain and patterned card stock circles cut to match. This is such a simple project to do, but doesn’t it make a big impact? I can’t get over how striking the coasters are!

DIY: Felt Mouse Favors

Written by  Kathleen Ballos

Have you ever tried sugar mice? I haven’t, but they look so adorable that I couldn’t help but use them as inspiration for these DIY party favors. Traditional sugar mice are apparently most common around the holidays but the pastel colors are perfect for summer, too, don’t you think? Fill these DIY felt mice with wrapped candies (I used Starburst and saltwater taffy) for a sweet little thank-you gift at your next birthday party or baby shower.
