DIY: Whimsical Valentine’s Paper Flowers

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

I love making paper flowers but often I find they take way too long to create. These whimsical flowers are a bit less labor intensive—instead of cutting crepe-paper petals, I used styrofoam and ping-pong balls to make up the majority of the flower. If you’re looking to make a handmade bouquet for Valentine’s Day this year, try your hand at these modern flowers!

DIY: Recycled Holiday-Card Garland

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

New Year’s Eve has never been a massive affair for us—usually we end up at home watching movies or playing board games with friends and family, snacking on chocolate fondue. We don’t put away Christmas decorations until New Year’s Day, so it still feels a bit like Christmas. When I’m tidying up I never quite know what to do with holiday cards, so this year I thought it would be neat to turn them into a garland for New Year’s Eve. I think I’ll even keep it up the rest of January to keep the mood festive for a few weeks longer. Happy New Year!

DIY: Chocolate Mushrooms

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

I’ve always admired the beautiful meringue mushrooms on Christmas yule log cakes—they’re so fluffy and delicate-looking! As much as I love them, I’ve never gotten around to making them myself. The holiday season is just so busy that I can’t seem to find the time to bake meringues on top of everything else. When I saw this round ice cube tray at the dollar store though, I immediately knew it was just the shortcut I needed. Make your own chocolate mushrooms this holiday season—with this trick, they only takes a few minutes!

DIY: Golden Holly Drinking Glasses

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

Growing up, we had special Christmas drinking glasses that we used during the holiday season. My mom would pack away our plain glassware and swap in Christmas-themed ones instead—I loved it! I recently realized that I don’t have any holiday glasses of my own, so I decided to craft these festive ones decorated with golden sprigs of holly.

DIY: Mini Honeycomb-Paper Turkeys

Written by Kathleen Ballos of  Snowdrop & Co

I love looking at retro party supplies for inspiration. When browsing online recently, I noticed tons of honeycomb-paper turkeys in all sizes for Thanksgiving. Some looked pretty neat but most were a bit dated, so I decided to put a modern spin on the idea with these mini DIY turkeys! Use them to add a pop of color to your centerpiece, put one on each place setting, or even use them to top your pumpkin pie!
