2018 Holiday Photo Card Challenges: Top 4-10 Winners

We’re excited to continue the countdown of winner announcements for the What a Bright Time Non-Foil-Pressed Holiday Photo Card Challenge and the What a Bright Time Quickfire Foil-Pressed Holiday Photo Card Challenge!

Can you believe we’ve been announcing winners in countdown style for just more than a decade? The Minted artist community never ceases to amaze us with their incredible holiday designs. The community’s talent and holiday spirit during the spring and summer months make our work all the more worthwhile.

Congratulations to the 4th through 10th place winners of our 2018 Holiday Photo Card Challenges!

Top 4-10 Non-Foil Winners

10. The oversized leaves and berries surrounding the photo in Jana Volfova’s “Holiday Greenery” are a fresh, modern take on traditional holiday greenery.

9. Julie Murray’s whimsical hand-lettering and dreamy star motifs capture the joy of both the holiday season and the birth of a newborn in “A Merry Little.”

8. Kristie Kern pairs a modern calligraphic font with understated sans serif text in her full-bleed design “Vintage Elegance” to create the perfect canvas for a photo and holiday message.

7. In “Pine + Berries Border,” Wildfield Paper Co. frames the photo with traditional, hand-painted holiday foliage and berries to create a balanced, dynamic composition.

6. In her design “Big Bright Joy,” Angela Marzuki fills oversized vertical type with intricate, vivid foliage to strike a balance between bold and delicate.

5. Kristen Smith’s impressive hand-lettering sends Christmas wishes in the aptly titled “Elegant Script.”

4. Festive watercolor foliage frames the newborn’s photo in Oscar & Emma’s stunning holiday birth announcement, “Ultimate Joy.”

10. Baumbirdy crafts a simple yet strong Polaroid-esque card in “modern mark.”

9. A Christmas tree takes center stage in an elegant and unexpected way in Erica Krystek’s “Festive Stencil.”

8. Katharine Watson creates a dramatic juxtaposition with a dark background and a hand-drawn botanical in “Folk Border.”

7. “Inlay” features a unique and special pairing combination — delicate foil sprigs inside a bold holiday greeting in Lauren Chism’s masterpiece.

6. Perfectly placed botanical leaves reinvent a classic framed card in Oma N. Ramkhelawan’s “Joyful Leaves.”

5. Phrosné Ras’s whimsical foil swirls evoke a winter wonderland in “starry shine.”

4. Paperie Shop’s fresh and playful hand-written font elevates a simple “happy holidays” greeting in “A Simple Holiday.”


Amy Cardillo is Minted’s Holiday Merchant. This year marks her fifth Holiday season(!) for Minted, and she has worked in both Merchandising and Merchandising Operations in her tenure. In 2017, she was on maternity leave during the annual countdown, but this year she’s excited to be back in the midst of the magic!

Annie Shapiro is Minted’s Holiday Merchandising Associate. This is her second holiday season with Minted and she’s thrilled to see another year of incredible design!
