We’re hitting the beach for today’s Minted Real Wedding—specifically, sunny San Clemente, California—where attorneys Kelly Regan and David Andrew Brown tied the knot in front of their 120 guests. The couple, who first met in college and later reconnected in law school, hosted a charming seaside celebration with a classic blue-and-white color palette.

Tell us about the proposal!
Andrew proposed on Easter morning—we’d made Easter baskets for each other, and he hid the engagement ring in a plastic egg. I initially didn’t find the ring when I first looked in my basket, but he told me I had missed some chocolate and that I had to go back and look. And then he got down on one knee!
How did you hear about Minted, and how did you choose your wedding invitation?
I’ve used Minted for bridal shower invitations and engagement gifts for friends over the past few years, so I decided to use Minted for our save the dates (“Classically Stated” by Roxy for Minted). For our wedding invitations, I ordered samples from every printer I could find and visited several stationery stores, and we decided to go with Minted again (“Classic Letterpress” by Lauren Chism for Minted) because we really liked the quality of the invitations and the easy ordering process.
Did you add any special touches to your invitations to make them your own?
We added an extra liner and wrapped each invitation with a blue-and-white striped ribbon, which we also used throughout the entire wedding.

We live in Orange County and wanted to incorporate the beach and ocean into our wedding day. We had attended a wedding at Casino San Clemente before, and we went back to visit and fell in love with it. Having a Catholic wedding was important to us as well as my parents, which is why we selected a Catholic church located near the reception venue.
Who made your wedding dress?
Blush by Monique Lhuillier
What was the wedding-dress shopping process like?
I brought my mom and mother-in-law shopping with me and I fell in love with the second dress I tried on!
What were some of your favorite wedding-day details?
The gold lanterns on the reception tables and the Adirondack chairs we had outside for lounging. Also, my husband’s speech was fantastic and reminded me why I am so happy to be married to him!
What were some of your fondest memories from the day?
Spending time with my family and friends. It was fun to throw a great party that everyone enjoyed.
Did you incorporate any family or cultural traditions into the wedding day?
My dad gave an Irish blessing at the rehearsal dinner.
Did you have an after-party?
The younger guests got on the party bus, which took us back to the hotel, the Laguna Cliffs Marriott, and we kept the night going at the bar.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Parrot Cay, Turks & Caicos
Any advice for brides who are starting to plan their wedding?
Enjoy the process—parts of it can be stressful, but in the end the most important thing is getting married to your best friend.
