Gift Guide: For Your Adventurous and Outdoorsy Sister

This holiday season, in addition to our regular Julep contributors, we’re also sharing stories from our Minted artists and designers about how they celebrate this most wonderful time of the year.

Name: Katie Keyworth of Katie Craig Art
Where you’re based: Dallas, TX
How long you’ve been with Minted: One year
Favorite thing about the holidays: I really enjoy the hunt for the perfect gift, whether big or small. I love the person to know I put thought and love into it!
On my holiday wish list this year: Jersey lounge pants, a garment steamer (ha!), and a Baggu monogrammed backpack (as shown above) for myself, too.
Favorite holiday tradition: Christmas Eve, hands down. Growing up, my family would have a nice, quiet dinner with my grandparents that consisted of ham, scalloped potatoes, and steamed fresh green beans with butter. The mood on Christmas Eve is so heavy with anticipation yet wonderfully peaceful, it has always stuck with me.

You know that girl who jumps out of planes (and still manages to look cute!), dyes her hair blue (and it actually looks good!), and rides her long board (with her hair knotted oh-so-stylishly in a bun!)? Yah, that’s my sister! I have yet to figure out where she gets the guts for all her adventures (as I’m quite the opposite)—she is a traveler, full of sass, and always on the forefront of utilitarian-chic style. I’ve compiled a grouping of gifts I know she’ll love; hopefully something also fits the bill for someone on your holiday gift list, too. (Note to my sister: You’re not getting all of them, xoxo!)  —Katie

1. Boden Knit “Fun Hat” ($38)
My sister and I both love us some good English-inspired style (plus, she has London on her travel bucket list!), so I know she would love this cute hat from Boden. Classic navy and red, with an adorable British-soldiers pattern—you can’t go wrong!

2. Patagonia “Better Jacket” ($139)
Our family has always loved Patagonia’s line of outdoorsy gear and when I saw this jacket with its great shape and snap-button detailing, I knew it’d be right up her alley.

3. S’well Teakwood Water Bottle (from $31)
Staying hydrated while adventuring is key and this bottle is double-lined so it will keep your beverage super cool or piping hot! S’well makes a ton of styles and colors but I loved this wood finish.

4. Bogs “Alexandria” Lace-Up Boots ($130)
Good footwear is paramount when traveling (your shoes will literally make or break a trip!). Bogs makes functional-yet-good-looking boots that will keep your feet toasty and dry—this style has waterproof leather, textured rubber soles, and amazing cushioning.

5. J.Crew Factory Passport Cover ($45)
Your passport is your gateway to adventures abroad, which is why it deserves to be housed in something special.

6. Baggu Striped Backpack ($48)
A striped drawstring backpack and a monogram, need I say more?! My sister usually opts for a carryall over a purse and this Baggu backpack from West Elm is the perfect solution since she’s always on the go.

7. Von Zipper “Lesmore” Sunglasses ($100)
Von Zipper has been my go-to brand of sunglasses for years and my sister has always loved them, but she doesn’t own a pair yet. They’re quintessential California sunnies that go with everything, from swimsuit to snow jacket!

8. Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer (from $32)
When you’re out in the elements as much as my sister is, skin protection is key. This daily moisturizer has added SPF for whatever your day brings (but hopefully it’s not jumping out of another plane, hint hint!).

Happy Holidays from Katie Keyworth!
