Holiday Photo Card Challenge: Special Prize Winners (Part 3)

Each year Minted hosts our highly anticipated holiday photo card competition in search of the best and freshest holiday card designs. The results blew us away! Independent designers from all over the world stepped up to the challenge—we received an incredible 4,103 submissions from 481 artists. The winners below each stood out in one of our special prize categories. Congratulations, winners! Check back tomorrow for more special prize winners.

Festive Full-Bleed Award for the best full-bleed photo card

“Covered in Joy” by Phrosné Ras

We love how Phrosné creates a pattern out of the letterforms in her aptly-named “Covered in Joy”. So modern and editorial without sacrificing holiday spirit, this card is such a wonderful new take on full-bleed! The use of a script front for “love” adds just the right personal touch.

“Glaze” by Kelli Hall

There were so many gorgeous full-bleed designs in this challenge that we couldn’t stop at just one special prize winner, and we can’t get enough of Kelli’s “Glaze”! The spare layout is unique but is still versatile to work with a wide range of family photos. The sweeping hand lettering is simply beautiful, and Kelli expertly highlights the photo with a subtle curving gradient.

Runners Up:

Copywriter Award for the card that uses clever wording to reinvent typical holiday greetings (like “happy holidays”, “merry Christmas,” “happy new year”)

“Hopes and Dreams” by Susan Brown

Susan has a knack for sweet copywriting, and this card is no exception! The essence of New Year’s optimism is so beautifully boiled down in “Hopes and Dreams”. The clean lines of the spare layout provide a great counterpoint to the casual script font, and we’re so drawn to the pop of color in the watercolor highlight.

Runners Up:

Curvilinear Award for the best design that puts customers’ names or other personalizable details on a curvilinear path

“Home Grown” by Kristie Kern

“Home Grown” features a truly darling vintage jam label in lieu of a standard holiday greeting. From the burlap texture to the scalloped edges to the lines framing to the text to the rustic curve of the family name, there’s so much to love about this card. The ingredients making up the family – 100% merry and pure joy – are such a clever touch!

Runners Up:

Moveable Elements Award for the best design that features clever design elements that can be moved around and arranged on top of a customer’s photo

“happiness is…” by Jessica Booth

This card will be so fun for families to customize together! We love how versatile this card is, working for any message from the silly to the heartfelt and with virtually any photo. “happiness is…” is simply sweet and perfectly executed. Well done, Jessica!

Runners Up:

Away in a Manger Award for the design that best uses a holiday card to announce the birth of a new baby

“Blessing in Bloom” by Angela Marzuki

Bold but still soft, Angela’s Christmas-themed birth announcement is a chic, festive way to introduce a new baby while celebrating the season! The painterly flora is just stunning, and the smattering of pink in the leaves and berries is such a fresh addition. The clean type and border around the photo offset the softer illustration and put the focus on the photo of the new addition.
