Design to Dish: Italian Cream Sodas

I’m completely charmed by the Southern tradition of throwing a Sip & See after a new baby is born! I love the idea of inviting friends and family over for a little get-together to meet the new baby, eat delicious snacks, and drink fizzy drinks–so many of my favorite things rolled into one fun party.

If you’re going to throw a Sip & See, you’ll need to serve a fun beverage. I absolutely love Italian Cream Sodas. They’re delicious and pretty, appropriate for all ages, and you can set them up as a create-your-own-soda bar, which everyone loves. Set out some pretty glasses, some cute paper straws, and some tasty flavored drink syrups, and you’re all set!

Italian Cream Sodas
instructions below are per glass

crushed ice
flavored beverage syrup (Raspberry is my all-time favorite, but they’re all pretty much delicious!)
cream
chilled club soda

Fill a glass half-way with crushed ice. Fill it a scant 1/4 of the way with syrup, then another scant 1/4 of the way with cream. At this point, the glass will be almost half full. Top off with club soda and a cute straw!

*You might notice that in the top picture, I put whipped cream on top of the Italian Cream Soda. It looks cute that way, but seriously, these sodas are so sweet and creamy that they don’t need whipped cream, which is something I don’t say very often!
