The Lettersmiths : Jill De Haan, Simon Walker, & Andrew Frazer

By Amy Ehmann of Design Lotus

Handlettering is everywhere you look, from pinterest to home catalogs. I enjoy this vast trend from the subtle to drastic differences, each unique to each designer/artist. I want to share with you three of my favorite lettersmiths. The suffix, -smith connotes a meaning of specialized craftsmen and all three of these individuals are experts in the field of hand lettering.

First up is Jill De Hann – She specializes in hand lettering, illustration, and tree climbing. I cannot attest to her tree climbing skills, but I can say that her lettering and illustrations are over the top dreamy and her portfolio is killer.

Jill is a fellow mintie (minted designer). It was no surprise she won the coveted top prize in the 2013 Oh What Fun holiday challenge with her gorgeous – Hand-Lettered Wishes Holiday Photo Card design.

Simon Walker

Simon Walker a.k.a. Super Furry. I came across Simon’s work a few years ago on Flickr, when I was searching for a logo designer. I’ve been a big fan ever since. Simon’s work is the perfect juxtaposition of modern and vintage style.

Andrew Frazer hails from Australia. His work is bold, organic and detailed. I discovered Andrew’s amazing talent via pinterest.
