Outside the Box Gift Wrap Challenge Special Prize Winners

By Jen Casebeer, Community Editor

At Minted, we believe that when giving gifts, what’s outside the box matters almost as much as what’s inside. So this year, after years of dreaming and plenty of requests from designers, we held our first-ever gift wrap challenge! In the Outside the Box Gift Wrap Challenge, we asked designers to create modern, unique, personalizable gift wrap designs that would make Minted customers’ gifts even more special this holiday season.

We received so many amazing submissions and are beyond thrilled to present our gift wrap collection. Among those winners, the designs below really shined in our Special Prize categories. Congratulations, winners!

Interests Award for the best gift wrap design that reflects a hobby or interest

Night Skate” by Morgan Ramberg

We cannot get enough of Morgan’s abstracted ice skaters! The mixture of exaggerated curves and angular poses creates a very interesting, whimsical scene. This gift wrap would surely bring a smile to anybody’s face – perfect for holiday gifts!

Holly Jolly Tree” by Karidy Walker

We love Karidy’s incredibly unique take on a holiday party invitation. There’s so much that makes this truly “out of the box” – her type tree is a very cute take on the traditional Christmas tree and her clever copy makes the design feel very fresh and modern.

a colorful tape christmas tree

By Melanie of You Are My Fave

My husband and I have been married for over seven years but last Christmas was the first we actually had a real tree. The excuses were legitimate – cramped apartment, no money, traveling during the holidays, no kids to enjoy it. But even though that stopped us from having a traditional tree, I didn’t want it to ruin my attempts at being festive. So for those few years, I would make an unconventional tree to display. Here’s an example of a tree that housed our presents underneath it one year.

scratch off activity advent

By Melanie of You Are My Fave

Advent calendars are my favorite thing to make for the holidays. With the first day of the countdown only being ten days away, I thought today would be a good time to share this scratch off one that you can make with only a few supplies. It might be the perfect long weekend project to kick off the festivities.

A Typographic Home

By Victoria Smith of sfgirlbybay.

Lately it seems that many of the spaces I save as inspiration all have one thing in common – pops of beautiful and graphic typographic decorative elements. I’ll them all – the vintage metal letters, oversized, or paired with others. Like the “L A D” seen above from photographer Seth Smoot, using letters as accent pieces around your home or office is a great way to bring unique visual elements to a space that could spell out meaning, or hold a more abstract message.

10 Bridesmaid Gifts Under 50 Dollars

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

One thing I had really looked forward to doing for our wedding was picking out special gifts for all of the people that helped us make that day perfect. And when the costs started adding up, it seemed less and less likely we were going to be able to splurge as planned. If you have a large wedding party, the gifts that you present them with can really add up! So i’ve rounded up 10 great gifts for your bridesmaids that won’t break the bank. Whether they are something they can use or wear at your wedding, or something you want them to enjoy after, i’m positive you’ll be able to find at least one for each gal on your list.
