St Patrick’s Day is fast approaching and this year I really wanted to make some shamrock cookies. It’s not often you get to make green goodies to eat!
I couldn’t find a shamrock cookie cutter in any of my local stores, so I decided to make my own and discovered with a few items from around the kitchen, a fun cookie cutter is really easy to make. The kids will really love helping you make these for a St Patrick’s Day morning tea.
Let’s get started with materials…
- Disposable aluminum baking tray x 2
- Cookie dough
- Green icing
- Green sprinkles
- Butter knife
- Rolling pin
Step 1: Cut the sides off one of your disposable aluminum baking trays and cut the bottom into 1 inch strips.
Step 2: Twist one of the strips to start making your shamrock shape. The aluminum is soft enough to twist and bend, but strong enough to hold its shape.
Step 3: Add more strips to your shape by simply stapling the strips together.
Step 4: Once you are happy with your shape, staple the open ends to together to hold the shamrock shape in place.
Step 5: Roll out your cookie dough and use your new cookie cutter to cut the shapes. Load up your other aluminum tray and bake your cookies following the recipe.
Step 6: Once your shamrock cookies are cool, ice with green icing and top with green sprinkles.
You don’t have to be a fabulous chef to make these fun biscuits, just load up your cookie dough with lots of green sprinkles and I promise the kids will be happy.
The best part is, you can make whatever shape cookies you want now you know how to make a quick cookie cutter!
