Pegboard Happy Birthday Sign

I have a piece of pegboard lying around in case of emergencies and a birthday party without proper decoration is certainly an emergency in my book. So I whipped this one up just in time for the festivities.

  • 2×4 piece of pegboard
  • 1/4″ dowel pins (I used about 230)
  • acrylic paints
  • paintbrush

Step One: Draw out the letters of your message on the back of the pegboard with a pencil. Make sure to do the reverse image so that when you’re putting the pegs through to the front, it reads properly.
Step Two: Paint your pegs with acrylic paints in the colors of your choosing. You can just paint half if you’re feeling lazy like me.
Step Three: Catch up on past Julep posts while you let them dry.
Step Four: Stick the painted pegs through the holes to spell out your message like a Lite-Brite.

The best part about this is that it’s not permanent and the message can easily be changed to fit the occasion, like spelling out “mom is grumpy” as a warning to all who enter your home that day.
