Sweater Cake Flags

By Victoria of A Subtle Revelry

Tis the season to pull out the winter clothes. If you are anything like me and find sweaters that will not be worn again, not to worry! Make these easy cake flags with them to re-use and decorate. The material gives the flags a gorgeous texture just perfect for the holidays and including buttons, seams and other sweater specific pieces give a unique take on this basic party staple.

To make the flags:

Cut up an old sweater. Use buttons, seams and other elements to add texture and style. Then dredge the pieces in fabric stiffener and wrap around simple kitchen skewers. Lay out on wax paper and allow 24 hours for the flags to completely dry. Stick into cakes, cookies and other treats for a festive and pretty holiday spread.
