I'd say you could do without. It's such a minimal design and in the end, the star doesn't really change the design at all or draw particular attention from my perspective, so when minimal is the name of the game, I'd lean toward leaving it off. That sentence was poorly constructed and has too many commas, but I think you get the idea ;)

I love the star idea, but since the trees are so small, it's kind of hard to tell what it is and a little distracting, so I'm voting B. OR, maybe just 1 tree with star instead of the 3? But I do like the horizontalness of the trees...
