About the Design

comments from Brooke:

What little boy doesn't love cowboys, especially one that can do lasso tricks. These classroom valentines are sure to be the favorite for boys.

Love the changes Brooke. What if the TO and FROM were a little bit smaller and closer to the line (aligned to the left)?

I love this so much! That cowboy and his facial expression are the cutest, and I love the heart-shaped lasso. I think kids may need a little more more to accommodate the height of their writing on the to/from lines - you could use Jessica's suggestion or just raise the "TO" and "FROM" a little more from the lines.

Love it! nice changes! I think for me the dotted white lines are a bit too close to the cowboy.. and do agree about the to and from maybe a little smaller.

Love your illustration, Brooke! Too cute. I did really like the textured one you had up on your FB page. I don;t think you need the heart.. I think if the rope was made to look more like a hear than that would work better. I also don't think you need the patterns at the top and bottom. To have the illustration stand on it's own may work better. Just my 2 cents! :)

super duper adorable!!!! I like the "yee haw!" heart, but I don't even think you need the faint embellishments at the top and bottom - it took me a while to even notice them. And, now that I think about it - if you take out the "yee haw!" heart, you could move the cowboy to the left and have more room for the names...something to consider. I LOVE the cowboy and heart-shaped lasso. I love your wording. Your colors are awesome. Best of luck to you!

Ladies, thank you, so kind. I will take all the comments into account when I make my next round of changes. Anyone have thoughts on the "yam" color in the background? I was thinking of playing with the boys hair color and the background color. What about an african american cowboy? Hmm, should I also make a cowgirl one? Why not!?

So cute and very nicely done! I like the textured one you had up, too! I agree about needing more room for the to/from/names.

Laura, maybe I'll try a version with the textured boy to see what people think. Thanks for the nice comments.

I agree with everyone else. This is very cute! Your type and lasso are spot on! I like the color combinations you have now, but you could always post alternates just to see what sticks (or give folks an idea of how your series or alt colorways would look). Also I agree that you don't really need the stars and decoration at the top—it's really light and doesn't add to the overall design—or the yee haw. Best of luck to you Brooke!

I told you!! he is adorable!! love the facial expression is awesome!! I was thinking maybe if you move the yee haw heart to the other side and move him over a tad it will give it more room!! I think hes a winner for sure!! dont think you need the little designs in the background.. love it love it!!
