The main point of a portrait is the subjects eyes , you cannot look anywhere else in this shot but there first . Awesome simply stunning and then your graphics dont leave you looking but at his name and last but not least is the gender neutral colored graphics that are silhuoetted and therefore cant be intellectual property available to all on open source free icons for commercial use, spot on well done Samantha

Adorable design, but you may want to play with other options, as the hungry caterpillar is likely intellectual property and bares too much resemblance to the book to avoid the rights

Thank you for your comment, however I'm fairly certain my design is unique enough that I will leave it as is.

This is lovely! I can see Ilze's concern but I do think you're different enough. You could even try making the caterpillar heads the darker green color, or even the blue. I'm not sure about the element in the bottom corner, I feel like it's pulling the focus for no real reason - I might try it without and mirror the leaves on the other side a bit. It might help those cute illustrations and the photo stand out even more.

This is really cute Samantha but I do agree with Dawn's comments about the element on the bottom right. Because it is so big it does pull attention away from the rest of the design and I think it would look better with small leaves the same or similar to the left.
