Thank you everyone for the comments. I think you were right about the size of the seagull, so I've made him much smaller now.

Hi Ellen, I like B because it presents as an uninterrupted seascape, A becomes about the gull. :)

I like Option A, but might make the gull smaller if possible to emphasize the sense of vastness? Very nice work!

B. I like them both. I agree with "Panda" that the gull might be smaller.
