comments from Kamala:

If you've ever done a "Vegas Baby" style road trip from Southern Cali, you probably recognize "Zzyzx". After seeing it so many times, curiosity got the best to me and I finally took the off ramp.

I was completely drawn in by this scene. The ground cracked and white with salty mineral deposits contrasting with the blue afternoon sky and a bit of haze softening the edges. Additional color ways available: black and white

Ah yes I know this drive well. Gorgeous photo! Evokes so many memories of boring but beautiful drives through nevada during my childhood ;)

I love how the color appears to be rising off the hills/rocks. A very interesting, ethereal image. And that perfectly straight horizon line is so key to making this work. Very cool!

I like the way the colors in the mountain peaks mimic the tones in the upper sky, and similarly with the mineral deposits on the ground and the lower portion of the sky. Nice use of rule of thirds as well. In looking at your larger B&W image, it looks like you may have some dust spots on your camera sensor.

I like your choice of hues and composition. The horizontal bronze band is a perfect accent. Well done!

A. the red makes it too Mars-ish and unnatural for me. A is more peaceful and entrancing.

I prefer the blue/white (option A). The pink tinge reads a bit smoggy looking to me!

Hello, Kamala :) I'm a fan of all your lovely work from all the previous contests :) Meanwhile, I'm leaning towards Option B, perhaps because the ground's slight tinge of pink offsets the sky, which the mountains then balance. Plus, Option B's mountains grab my attention more, which I prefer. By contrast, in A the mountains seem muted, and in C the mountains don't seem as dramatic because of the foreground vegetation. Hence, for me, B gets my vote :)

This was hard for me to decide. I really like all 3. But B for some reason stood out more. Very nice-

I chose B. I like the composition and while I don't see a striking difference between A and B, the colors are richer. This drew me to it.
