I'm struggling to make this design feel "complete". The background is troubling me. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Love! Oh that sans serif added a really nice contrast to the whole piece. I think the bubbles you had before would make a really great backer design :) Oh and I like the 15 in the script from version a and d - so I might swap those.

Oh one other random thought - if you feel like the plain edges are just too plain, have you tried them on one of the fancier die cuts? The curved frame one might give it that extra girly feel you're looking for.

I think I prefer the simplicity and typography in A the most.

I like A the best. I like the clean white background to let the focus be on the adorable illustrations and I really like the script type for the name, age and date. Nice job!

I like the simplicity of A but feel like my (almost) five year old would appreciate the border on option D. Tough choice!

I picked B: I think your illustration is really lovely by itself and does not need to be framed. And I like the contrast between the script font and a simpler font.

Great options . . . now I'm just torn between A & B! Either one would be a great submission.

Very lovely! Going with B I think the font combination works best and simplifies the overall design bringing focus to the watercolor design.

I like how the name and illustrations are the focus in B. Really cute!

I like B. It readable and clean and makes your illustration shine.

Really cute! I like the border of C best because I think it frames the whole thing really nicely. The only small thing I would change is making making "is turning 5" be in the basic font you have below, rather than the script, so that the girl's name really stands out more.

Tough choice, they are all appealing! Going with D, I like the mod dots! Good luck!

Option B for me, the simpler the better I think. I like the name in B, but the birthday number could be in Script like Dawn said.

I choose B. Fun concept, i don't think you need those dots on the 4 corners. You could also make the white rectangle soft on the edges so that it complements your watercolor treatment. Also I would increase the leading on the bottom text. I hope I was helpful :)

I prefer A. I would probably suggest introducing a non cursive font for the 'is turning five' and the 'date details'. Your illustrations are so good I would definitely let them be the highlight. Maybe another option for your poll?

Fun! I still love these illustrations :) I like A a little better. Have you tried it with nothing around the the edges at all? I'd try removing everything then making the top two lines a little bigger and adding a bit more leading between the lines in that last paragraph, and maybe moving it down a little so it feels visually spaced the same as the text above the date (hope that makes sense lol).

Consider trying some watercolor brush strokes coming from outside in. I feel that the perfect round circles disturb the balance of the painted elements. I added a quick screen grab to demo... just an idea
