comments from lori:

The details of Andrea and Fernando’s wedding sound very elegant, so I created a more formal invitation to carry that theme of elegance through to their shower. I pulled the color palette from part of the wedding details - "white drapery and silver chandeliers".

I wonder what it would it look like with some color on the bride? I like the idea of black and white, but at the same time I wouldn't want it to come out looking like something that came out of a laser printer.

Thanks for the suggestion Alex. I tried it, and I think I like it better than the original b&w. I also changed the background color from black to silver because it looked a little too heavy after I added color to the bride. Let me know what you think . . . and thanks again!

I like the figure much better, but I do like the formality (and contrast) of the black. Did you try a charcoal? It would help the text show up a little better, and it may print a little better. Silver would look really nice if it was a metallic ink, but that is not possible at this point.

That made a big difference! Looks a lot more elegant now. I like. The only thing for me is maybe a little more contrast between the background and type? I might just have bad eyes though! :)

very simple and sweet.

Alex, Jessica, Laura - thank you for your comments and suggestions! I darkened the background a bit to add contrast for better readability, and I also tried it with a darker charcoal and black background. I like the drama of the darker background, but I really like the elegance of the white on silver gray, so I darkened it just enough for the text to be more readable. Thanks again guys!

very nice.

Hey Alex, I decided to take your advice and change it back to black. I think I like the formality and contrast, as well. Thanks so much for your invaluable input. I think all the designers are very appreciative of your thoughts and suggestions!

This design gives off a feeling of anticipation. The positioning of the subject is very symbolic of a bride-to-be, who is about to embark on a new chapter in her life. The concept is strong and concise - elegantly done. I also appreciate the framing created by the subjects dress, the text, and scroll work. The resulting organic shape, leads the eye well, through the design.
