comments from Candice:

An elephant silhouette gets a sweet modern touch with a floral treatment. Perfect for a party at the zoo, the circus or for any animal lover.

That's a cool elephant, Candice - I love the head-on angle that you chose. I was just wondering what the design would look like without the black border. There's a lot of great white space, and I think removing the border would accentuate it, even more. I was also wondering if, maybe, a classic serif or a modern sans serif in place of the whimsical scripty font might match better with your cool elephant design. Just a couple of suggestions, though. I think it's cool, as is! :)

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions Lori :o) Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to make any changes before the voting started. I really appreciate the comments though, I'm always looking to strengthen my work!

I feel like this one is all about combining classical and playful elements. The dark border, the serif font, and the wingdings are all formal elements, almost suited to a wedding invitation. The pink background on the elephant and the font used for the top and bottom bring in the playful elements better suited to a child's birthday party. As this is one of my favorites from Candice, I think she was successful in combining both, using the formal to keep the playful from becoming too "cutesy".
