This looks very similar to LOVEkacie's winning "ABC" design. You might try to make the numbers larger to set it apart from that.

Thank you for your comments. It was not my intention to be like LOVEkacie's "ABC" design. Although I agree they are somewhat similar, my layout is different, and I do not angle any of the numbers. Our fonts, font weight and pallette are different as well. I, too, have a modern design style and the use of numbers in my design set the foundation of the complete story of my invitation about how birthdays celebrate growth.
If Alex is turning 5, shouldn't the most prominent number in the pattern be the #5? Right now the #8 is really standing out.
Thanks Cassidy, you're right. I was thinking about that as well. I will try to come up with some solution that won't involve having to re-do the numbers background each time - since different orders will most likely mean different ages for their kids. Though Alex is turning 5 - a separate order may be a girl turning 3. Thanks for the heads up!
I only wish the characters were more Asian. Along the ways.
I like this pattern over the previous. It's says more about growth being in numerical order rather than random. Also, I don't think there would be any issue with having to change a dominant number in the background. Nicely done.
I love this invitation. I don't think it's the same as LOVEkacie's. It's actually more clever and clean.
