Now that I've tried this on white I completely agree with the commenters, it pops so much nicer. I also followed the advice to shift down the surfboards down to eliminate the triangle shape at the bottom and then noticed one on the right side that I also shifted things to remove. 2 versions here, keeping height in frame the same and keeping the distance from the boards to Thank You! the same.

Like where this is heading. I would probably make the background white and move the two illustrations down a little so the there isn't a triangle shape when the two shape intersect.

I agree with both of Joanne's comments - white background and eliminate the neg space between the surfboards. Nice color choices. The white background will help them pop rather than mute them, too.
