comments from lori:

Celebrating the New Year holidays - "Oshougatsu" - is very important in Japan, and it is a custom to send out New Year's greetings - just as we send Christmas cards, here in the US. The Japanese characters - "Gashou" - is one of many ways to say "Happy New Year!"

Lori - I would move the text on the bottom to above the branches. Maybe bump the font size up one notch as well. I'm not sure about the layering effect in the background. I would simplify it. Very pretty.

Hey Amy - I uploaded the new version, and I moved the text up from the bottom, and I also simplified the greeting in Japanese. It says "Gashou" which also translates to "Happy New Year". I think it has a cleaner look, now - thanks for your suggestions :) Please feel free to make further suggestions! I really appreciate your feedback!

Much better. I would fill the character text.

Interesting color. I'm not sure if I like the color of the photo. Is it possible to try black and white photo instead?

Lori, so sweet. It's warmth and captivating innocence is comforting in any language. Wonder how it would appear if left branch thinned out just a tad and both ends pointing upward. No matter, love it as is!
