About the Design

comments from Brooke:

In this art print I wanted to combine the idea of a barber pole and a totem pole to create some sort of dynamic, iconic image.

Any feedback would be great. Clever or creepy? Faces or no? Thank you for all critiques.

I voted B! Love it! I'm not sure you even need the grey background - may be more striking against the white? Just a thought.

I didn't get the 2 bit thing either but it didn't really matter to me. I like that it ads a little extra to it :) I like A but see I may be in the minority.

@Kim: I see what you're saying but it seems that no bg might open it up too much ... would it pop the image enough just by lightening the bg a bit, maybe 20-30%? By the way, Brooke, I love the rounded corners on the bg. Nice touch.

B for me,the text seems to take away the attention from the illustrations. Very cool though :)

I don't get what 2 bits means but the faces are awesome! I wonder if you could eliminate the text altogether even.

lol, that is the monetary cost of a shave and a haircut, 2 bits. Google the phrase, you'll see. :)

The illustration is top notch. Like 2birdstone, I tend to think iconography of this quality works better without text. There are exceptions, like Shepard Fairey's OBEY, but that's more a political statement. If you're worried that cutting the words will leave empty space, a couple (negative) lines following the curvature of the rims on the ball would take care of that.

Jonathan, that is an excellent solution, I'm on it. I think that will make it so much better. :)
