comments from Rori:

This design was inspired by a recent trip to Mexico and seeing the beautiful hand stitched Otomi fabric panels, and I thought it would make a fun and lively wedding invitation design. I hand drew each image and then scanned and placed in the design program.

Do you like the gradient magenta, or would it look more authentic as a solid color? I kind of liked the watercolor feeling this gave it... I was also going between orange or magenta, any constructive feedback welcome!

This is beautiful! I definitely get the watercolor feeling, and I love the cobalt blue. I'd probably use a pop of color in the text below like a tomato red just for accent, maybe even the orange you were talking about. But I love the design in blue.

Gorgeous! I agree with Ashley about varying the gradient though, or maybe making it overall radial.

I think the color for the artwork is getting too dark, I rather see the blend go to a lighter color of blue and not start so dark.

Yes, that's pretty! This is nitpicky but I wonder if you could try and vary the gradient in the animals some, so it's not so obviously light to dark left to right on each one?

Ok, I put a few options up, what do you think of the knocked out version, stronger or weaker. I really appreciate all the help :)

This one is also nice. I like the boldness of your design. Similar to mine :-)

I love this shade of royal blue. The gradient in the pink is too busy for the design.

A but I like the dimension the gradient adds to B, I'm just not liking the hot pink.

Thanks for the feedback! Is the blue working better?

I love the gradient magenta but the blue is lovely too. Try adding more color to the blue direction.

Gwendolyn on Nov 6, 2013 at 10:53am

the solid is amazing. it would even be really neat in a letter-pressed metallic silver.

Like the blue much better. You can even try to go darker, like navy, for contrast... Great design!

I would go with a solid color... I like the magenta but a deep blue would look great too.
