Designs featured on our site originate from artists working out of over 100 countries. Through this network of contributing artists, we can ensure that designs are kept fresh, current, and ever-evolving. When you gift your family and friends a Minted holiday card, you are literally giving them an original work of art.

When you purchase a card on Minted, a percentage of the sale will go back to the contributing artist that designed your card. Know that your purchase is helping fund the independent artist community. Each of our modern holiday cards is fully customizable with your favorite family photo and personalized greeting. HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR CARD TO LOOK MORE MODERN

In addition to our industry-leading designs, we provide our customers with an assortment of customization features to enhance the overall presentation of their holiday cards. From tried and true printing techniques that date back centuries to chic envelope add-ons, Minted allows your imagination to run wild when it comes to designing a contemporary Christmas card. Foilpress: Ancient monarchs and royalty used to show their wealth by coating items with gold. Whether it was furniture, silverware, artwork, or clothing, gold leaf or gold accents were always a sign of class. On select holiday card designs, Minted customers can add a touch of gold coloring as well! Metallic gold, silver, or rose gold foil will be pressed over elements of the card design to make your card glow. As the card is moved in the hand, the light will bounce off the foil press elements and create a beautiful shine. To find Minted holiday cards that have the add-on foil press feature, just look for the “Real foil, let it shine” sticker highlighted in the card selection view.

Letterpress: The letterpress printing technique dates all the way back to the 15th century when Johann Gutenberg began printing bibles. Individual letters were carved into wooden blocks so that the letters were raised slightly above the rest of the block. The raised letters were then exposed to ink and paper was pressed over the wooden block. Modern letterpress techniques build on that same original practice that began over 500 years ago.

Minted’s letterpress holiday cards include at least one feature (if not multiple) that is pressed or indented into the card. Your selected ink color then fills the indented space. The cardstock is a thick 100% cotton paper that amplifies the letterpress technique to help create a three-dimensional look and feel to the card.

Fonts:We are all familiar with standard fonts that we see everyday such as Courier, Times New Roman, and Arial. Sometimes selecting the right font can really give your card the modern and edgy look you are shooting for. With Minted, you can select from over 50 stylistic fonts to have your greeting printed in. You can also opt to have the primary greeting in one font, while your family name or message insert is printed in a complementary font.

Other font considerations to take into mind when customizing your card is coloring, sizing, and alignment. A right or left-aligned block of text can have a very different look than one that is centered. Be sure to adjust some of these settings and then view the final design look in the Minted preview screen. Lastly, the text can be dragged and placed in various places on the card to give a unique look not commonly seen in classic designs.

Custom Back of the Card: If you opt for a flat card design, don’t forget that the back of the card can be used for added modern touches. A new-age look could feature a beautiful holiday design on the front of the card, with no actual family photo. Then on the back of the card, you could include a family image or two. Just take a look at some of the options you could choose from.

• Patterned or colorful backing.
• Custom text printed over a picture of a watercolor Christmas tree.
• Custom text surrounded by watercolor snowflakes.
• A collage of family photos with a caption.
• A newspaper-style template where you can feature family milestones and achievements.

Fold-over Card Option: If you want to include a printed one-sheet of family happenings, or simply want more card real estate, you can choose to transform most of our designs into a fold-over card. Again, we have a variety of creative templates you can choose from that will impress your friends and family.

Custom Envelope Liner: During the card customization process, Minted provides customers with the option to add custom envelope liners to their order. It can appear very sleek when the inside of the envelope matches the style and theme of your holiday greeting. Choose from a recommended liner that coordinates with your design or select a classy silver, gold, or rose gold liner. The liners simply slide in and adhere to the envelope.

Skinnywrap: Finish your modern holiday card in style with Minted’s skinnywrap address labels. Most holiday cards received this year will feature a hand-written or sticker address label placed on an envelope that is sealed with the standard envelope adhesive. Break the standard look and wrap your envelope with a contemporary seal.

WHEN TO SEND YOUR CARD?

Unsure when to send your holiday cards? In general, aim for early December at the latest. The earlier you order them, the more time you have to sit back and enjoy your hot cocoa, and the longer your recipients have to enjoy and display them.
