who we are

We’re into beautiful things. Call us shallow, but delicate vellum flysheets, stunning photographic images, boxes full of grosgrain ribbons, and the deep impression of letterpress print on cotton paper are the kinds of things that get us excited. So we developed Minted to help bring beautiful paper design to customers around the world.

Being around great custom stationery and invitation designs all the time, we’re bound to daydream about how we would use them. Meet the Minted team, and the parties we’d love to throw.

What do you do at Minted? I make sure that the Minted “orchestra” is playing together.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: I'm lucky to share an office with Allison, she's always smiling and has a great collection of scarves

The party you'd throw: I just threw an Asian-themed dinner party for my mom’s family reunion, in the garden of my house in San Francisco. The colors were red, pink, white, and green; we had hot pink hyacinths in the middle of the tables and hung strings of red paper lanterns. Everyone received a copy of a book of my grandmother’s Chinese recipes, wrapped in pink ribbon. If we had launched Minted before this party, I would have ordered “Coral Willow” invitations from Cat Seto.

What do you do at Minted? Mostly I keep the engineers busy by requesting lots of new features and functionality. In my spare time I think big thoughts about Minted's future and keep tabs on our finances.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Jen has more cool combinations of winter skirts and tights than anyone else I know. I’m looking forward to seeing the spring collection.

The party you'd throw: I’d throw my parents a huge bash for their 35th wedding anniversary. Mendoza in the fall, with lots of great Malbecs. We’d bike the vineyards by day, eat dinner outside, then retreat to the caves for drinks and that intoxicating smell of new barrels. And I’d use Dauphine’s Ornamental Border in vineyard hues to let everyone know.

What do you do at Minted? Merchandising Manager/Curator of pretty paper. I scour design blogs, boutiques and friends’ weddings for the latest in cutting edge, custom products for Minted. I have never been good at “looking, but not touching.” Letterpress begs to be touched. And damn it if I’m not the one to touch it.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Alex (DJ Elko) sits behind me, and plays all my favorite tunes upon request. He keeps the beat at work.

The party you’d throw: The party I would throw is purely based on an obsession to find somewhere to wear ridiculously large hats. Voila. Kentucky Derby! Large hats and Mint Julep consumption are a must. All guests would get letterpressed “tickets” as invitations to our suite, which I would create with Peculiar Pair Press. Live music, bright spring flowers, petite fours and some good ‘ol horse racing.

What do you do at Minted? Web design – I try to find the perfect position for the pixels I am pushing.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Allison is easy to talk to, and she seems to like the weird music I am playing.

The party you'd throw: I’d love to stage a wedding on one of those long articulated city buses. All the guests board the bus, and as they make their way around the city, the bus would pick up the groomsmen and the bridesmaids. Finally, the caravan would pick up the bride. She would board through the rear doors, and make her way up the center aisle to the front of the bus to marry her groom. At the final stop, the reception site, everyone off-boards, and festivities begin. Save-the-date cards could be styled after transfer tickets, and the invitations modeled after a bus map.

What do you do at Minted? I build the site, with help.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Kelly is always a great source of answers for local resources I hadn’t thought of.

The party you'd throw: I’d throw a leopard-shark viewing party.

What do you do at Minted? I'm Minted's Editor (and the lone member of the minted NYC posse). I am out on the front lines in the world of design, scouting out the trends, shmoozing with the up-and-comers and combing the design blogs on a hunt for whatever's next.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: My dog Oliver is sitting next to me. He's quite handsome, and does have a way with the ladies, but he's not a very hard worker.

The party you'd throw: In my wildest dreams, I would throw a blowout New Year's eve bash at the Four Seasons hotel in Buenos Aires. We would have tango dancing lessons, gorgeous bright flowers and candles absolutely everywhere. Cat Seto's Coral Willow design would make for the perfect invite. I love the idea of everyone opening their envelopes, seeing the sparkly, bejeweled paper and realizing what a fantastic party was to come.

What do you do at Minted? I'm the web producer

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Melissa does not have a mean bone in her body. However, I am worried about her Emergen-C consumption.

The party you'd throw: So here's how it would go. We’re all dressed up a la variations of Keira Knightly in Atonement (and naturally, look as good). The colors? Deep greens and purples. There’s cheese. Crazy, fancy cheese from crazy, fancy regions of France. KEXP, my favorite radio station, is DJ-ing. Then the mood picks up and surprise, it’s Justin Timberlake and David Bowie! Take it away, Justin, take it away, David. This is all, of course, happening at the getaway beach house from the Thomas Crown Affair. Puppies live there. A herd of well-behaved Bernese Mountain Dog puppies. When everyone’s had enough of puppies, cheese, and Justin/David, we Slip-n-Slide it down to the beach for a dip. And right after the fireworks, call it a night. I'd set the tone for all of this with the decadent Positano by Mr. Boddington's Studio.

What do you do at Minted? I help people find our site and tell them about all of our beautiful stationery.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: I'm impressed with the amount of outfits Will wears in a day – bike clothes to work clothes to squash clothes and back to work clothes.

The party you'd throw: I'd love to re-do my wedding (with the exception of my wonderful husband, of course) I'd start, of course, with the invitations -- I'd choose Egg Press’ Seedling. We’d get married outside at one of our favorite CA spots - the Awahnee Hotel in Yosemite. Amazing food (think fresh ahi tuna tartare) would be served and Jack Johnson would serenade our guests who would be dancing under the stars until well into the morning. Oh – and we can’t forget the a decadent carrot cake with the sweetest cream cheese frosting.

What do you do at Minted? I make sure the office runs smoothly, take care of new employees and contractors, and make sure everyone’s birthday is celebrated.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Josh is usually deep in a coding frenzy! He is always trying something new for lunch which makes me think he is quite innovative and adventurous plus he is the first to remind me about Happy Hour.

The party you'd throw: It would be fun to have a party that lasts a few days with all of my friends, just like they used to throw at Hearst Castle. I would send Swizzlesticks by Egg Press.

What do you do at Minted? I run my fingers over the texture-y goodness of our brands, and then I photograph them.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Even when she’'s juggling several projects at once, Katy will take time out to say hi and chat in her warm welcoming way.

The party you'd throw: I'd throw a summer solstice rooftop party with all my favorite east bay DJs: The Oakland Faders, Kitty, Kool Kyle, and Matthew Africa. There’'d be miles of tropical plants and glowing paper lanterns strung all about. My favorite local Vietnamese restaurant would provide the light summer fare, and I'’d use Mr. Boddington'’s Rajahstan invitation to get the word out.

What do you do at Minted? I'm the newest web developer/bug fixer on the block.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Katy takes care of feeding us -- pizza, Thai food, cookies -- we all get good eats thanks to her.

The party you'd throw: I'd throw a fun housewarming party now that I've officially moved to the Bay Area. It would be catered by the best SF restaurateurs and music by the best DJs in town. I'd have guest bartenders from all the top spots in the city.

What do you do at Minted? I turn our customers stationery dreams into a reality.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Kate is cool, calm, and collected. She has great fashion sense, and a passion for paper.

The party you'd throw: The ideal party is in my backyard on a late Saturday afternoon with friends & family. We would drink amazing wine, accompanied with artisanal cheeses, and a warm baguette. Ahhhhh. I'd choose English Garden by Egg Press because I want my house to look like this invitation one day!

What do you do at Minted: I make web pages.

Say something nice about the person sitting next to you: Wall, your such a pretty color of green.

The party you'd throw: On the beach in Tahiti. Late afternoon to catch the breath taking sunset and then party through the night.
