DIY: 15 Drink Stirrers for Your Wedding

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

DIY Cocktail Stirrers

There are plenty of ways to jazz up your wedding cocktails, but I think one of the most fun is with swizzle sticks. They’re a simple enough DIY undertaking that you can have a girl’s night (or guy’s!) and get crafty without having to go overboard. Plus, they’re the perfect way to add a little color or infuse your wedding theme into the reception. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite ideas—have a look and remember that you can switch out colors and seasonal items (like the flowers, for example) to make it suit your big day perfectly!

Currently Loving: Luxurious Bathrooms

At the end of a long day, one of my favorite ways to unwind and reset is to pamper myself with a bathroom full of candles, a nice long bath, and yummy-smelling products. Take a peek into some of my dream bathrooms—I’m longing to have one of these gorgeous, luxe spaces (all with vintage claw-foot bathtubs!) of my own.

Featured in Inside Out magazine, interior designer Kali Cavanagh turned her weekend home’s bathroom into a luxe, light-filled sitting room by including a vintage dresser as a vanity and big barn doors to create privacy when needed.

Party Inspiration: Planning a Birthday Camping Trip

simple camping trip birthday ideas

camping trip birthday inspiration My little guy’s 3rd birthday is coming up, and we’re planning an overnight family camping trip to celebrate. Inspired by Paper and Parcel’s Pow Wow invite, the party vibe I’ve pulled together is a little bit Wilderness Explorer, a little bit Boy Scout, and a lot of simplicity. We’re foregoing the fuss, leaving the extras at home, and making an escape into the wild (well… sort of—a toddler still needs a bathroom nearby!). Take a peek at my inspiration for our wilderness getaway, along with some of the fun details that we’ll pack along to keep things in the birthday spirit.

How To: Make Summery Wedding Colors Work for Fall

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

Fall Wedding Colors

Just because fall is right around the corner doesn’t mean you have to give up the idea of a bright, summery color palette for your wedding. One easy way to make summer hues work for fall is to add a moody touch to the overall palette by introducing a dark, saturated color. I love the combo of pale blues and corals mixed with deep, inky navy inspired by this pretty watercolor painting. Read on for more ideas and ways to incorporate this palette in your own wedding!

How To: Create an Art Gallery Wall at Home

How to create an art gallery wall at home

Buying and collecting art? Majorly fun. Figuring out where to hang everything? Sometimes not so fun. If you’re like me, you’ve probably come across a ton of inspiring images of art-gallery walls on Pinterest or in shelter magazines, with walls fabulously filled to the brim with beautifully framed pieces. But attempting to create something similar at home can be a little intimidating.

To inspire you to create an art-gallery wall of your own, we dropped by the homes of two Minted employees: our founder and CEO Mariam Naficy (top) and associate creative director Annie Clark (bottom).

“I wanted a wall that reflected my family and our love for travel and art, and that was deliberately un-stuffy. I loved incorporating a mirror I found in Paris, a piece of antique fabric I found in Turkey, and my children’s art.” —Mariam

“My home is a work in progress. I love that I can easily add a new piece or pin a photo to this ever-evolving corner gallery.” —Annie

San Francisco-based stylist Rosy Strazzeri-Fridman worked with the ladies to create gallery-wall displays that perfectly suited their individual styles. Here, she shares her best advice and tips. So dig through your closets, pull out those pieces you’ve been meaning to have framed, and get hanging!

Minted Parties: Savannah Guthrie’s Baby Shower

It’s not every day that you get to help decorate and style a baby shower for the co-anchor of the Today Show, so we jumped at the chance to decorate Savannah Guthrie’s baby shower. Since she’s such a talented anchorwoman (and also a voracious reader!), we decided on a newspaper theme with a lot of typography and gender-neutral details (she and her husband Mike Feldman decided to keep the gender a surprise!).

Shower date: June 30, 2014
Location: The Glasshouses
Minted party decor: Jen Wick’s Big Top Personalizable Party Decor and Marabou’s Modern Mint Party Decor
Photographer: Samantha Okazaki/TODAY
Florist: Blossom and Branch
Event planning: Minted and Rock Paper Scissors Events

8 Summer Wedding Signature Cocktails

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

wedding signature cocktail

Working on custom wedding signage means I see a lot of the little details brides are incorporating into their big day. One thing that’s always a good idea: a sign or two displayed at the cocktail bar listing the couple’s signature cocktails. Custom beverages are a fun way to personalize your bar menu and share your favorite libations with your friends and family. Plus, if you opt for cocktail the bartenders can mix in advance, that will definitely help cut down on long lines at the bar. We served two signature cocktails at our wedding and our guests loved them so much, most didn’t even scan the menu for other options. In the spirit of infusing one last bit of summer into your upcoming soiree, check out these eight cocktails I’ve had my eye on… and that you might want to consider making your own.

Currently Loving: Cozy Dining Nooks

A cozy yet fully functional dining nook is the perfect way to keep everyone lingering at the table (think: dinner conversations going long into the night and leisurely Sunday brunches that somehow last all day). Here are a few dining nooks that I find really inspiring, with bright pops of color here and there to bring the focus into this sweet spot.
