Currently Loving: Cozy Modern

As the winter months approach, I feel more and more like going into hibernation mode. Preferably curling up in one of these spaces—they’re cozy and intimate, and done in perfectly soothing shades of gray to keep you warm all season long. They don’t feel quaint or old fashioned, though, instead they feel modern and sleek, like your favorite cashmere sweater. Like this image above —a beautifully classic egg chair paired with wonderful Scandinavian materials and textures. I could sit here by the fire and watch the snow fall for hours.

Wedding Inspiration: 10 Easy Ways to Use Rubber Stamps

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

Wedding Decor

Back when I was a kid, I was a little obsessed with rubber stamps. I used them on scrapbooks, notes for my friends, you name it. I’m sure we all had a little fun with them, right? And then we grew up, but that doesn’t mean the stamping fun has to end. These rubber stamps—some are store bought and some are custom made—are the perfect way to add an easy, DIY touch to your wedding day. Here are 10 of my favorite ways to use them on your big day.

Currently Loving: Wall Murals

Wallpaper is back in fashion! And a wallpaper trend I’ve been seeing a lot of is the oversize mural, which pretty much takes over an entire wall. The look is different and dramatic, and definitely makes a bold statement. Lots of wallpaper companies are rolling out these larger prints and the look is trés chic, perhaps even a little Parisian. Here’s some I quite like.

The July issue of Inside Out magazine featured this pretty bedroom, with a beautiful mural acting as a stunning backdrop to the antique brass headboard.

Currently Loving: Indoor Foliage

By Amy Ehmann of  Design Lotus

Now that it’s autumn, I’m brainstorming ways to bring the outdoors in by adding indoor plants and trees to different rooms in my house. I love how they add a dose of nature that can be enjoyed all year round.

The schefflera tree (depicted above) is also known as an umbrella tree; I love the lush, tropical feel of the foliage and the sculptural qualities of the stems (they can be braided together to form a piece of living art!). Photograph via Javado Plant.

DIY: 15 Drink Stirrers for Your Wedding

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

DIY Cocktail Stirrers

There are plenty of ways to jazz up your wedding cocktails, but I think one of the most fun is with swizzle sticks. They’re a simple enough DIY undertaking that you can have a girl’s night (or guy’s!) and get crafty without having to go overboard. Plus, they’re the perfect way to add a little color or infuse your wedding theme into the reception. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite ideas—have a look and remember that you can switch out colors and seasonal items (like the flowers, for example) to make it suit your big day perfectly!

Currently Loving: Luxurious Bathrooms

At the end of a long day, one of my favorite ways to unwind and reset is to pamper myself with a bathroom full of candles, a nice long bath, and yummy-smelling products. Take a peek into some of my dream bathrooms—I’m longing to have one of these gorgeous, luxe spaces (all with vintage claw-foot bathtubs!) of my own.

Featured in Inside Out magazine, interior designer Kali Cavanagh turned her weekend home’s bathroom into a luxe, light-filled sitting room by including a vintage dresser as a vanity and big barn doors to create privacy when needed.

Party Inspiration: Planning a Birthday Camping Trip

simple camping trip birthday ideas

camping trip birthday inspiration My little guy’s 3rd birthday is coming up, and we’re planning an overnight family camping trip to celebrate. Inspired by Paper and Parcel’s Pow Wow invite, the party vibe I’ve pulled together is a little bit Wilderness Explorer, a little bit Boy Scout, and a lot of simplicity. We’re foregoing the fuss, leaving the extras at home, and making an escape into the wild (well… sort of—a toddler still needs a bathroom nearby!). Take a peek at my inspiration for our wilderness getaway, along with some of the fun details that we’ll pack along to keep things in the birthday spirit.

How To: Make Summery Wedding Colors Work for Fall

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

Fall Wedding Colors

Just because fall is right around the corner doesn’t mean you have to give up the idea of a bright, summery color palette for your wedding. One easy way to make summer hues work for fall is to add a moody touch to the overall palette by introducing a dark, saturated color. I love the combo of pale blues and corals mixed with deep, inky navy inspired by this pretty watercolor painting. Read on for more ideas and ways to incorporate this palette in your own wedding!
