DIY: Felt Holly Garland

When it comes to holiday decorating, I like to come up with a fresh, new take on last year’s decorations—it’s a fun way to repurpose embellishments you already own. For this project, I turned my strand of red and white felt balls from last year’s Christmas tree into a festive garland of holly to drape over a mantel or wall.

DIY: Simple Tassel Napkin Ring

Written by Sara Albers and Melissa Fenlon of  Alice & Lois

We love creating simple, easy-to-make handmade details to add to your the holiday table (especially helpful if you’re pressed for time!). Last year, we made leather-cording napkin ties with fresh eucalyptus; this year, we created these super-simple yarn tassels to use as napkin rings. These fun tassels add a pop of color and a handmade touch to each guest’s place setting. We used a light-blue wool yarn for the tassels and stamped guests’ names on mustard yellow card stock—the colors really popped against our black-and-white patterned napkins (“Criss-Crossed” by Hooray Creative). Keep reading for the full tutorial.

But before I get ahead of myself, there’s Thanksgiving to celebrate. Whether you’re hosting dinner this year or heading out to celebrate with family, these simple pumpkin wine stoppers are the perfect way to add an autumnal touch to your Thanksgiving gathering. They literally take minutes to make, so they’re a great last-minute hostess gift or you could even whip up a bunch and give them as favors to your adult guests. Happy Thanksgiving!
