Maker Nights: Holiday Pin Boards at The Little Owl in NYC

We held our second Makers Night at The Little Owl – The Venue in New York City last week. Our project du jour was similar to our last Makers Night at the Goat Farm in Atlanta, where we made inspiration boards with Minted frames and fabric, but this one was geared toward making the boards for displaying incoming holiday cards.

We had over 40 crafters on hand and they took the styling of the boards very seriously!

Minted Parties: “Where the Wild Things Are” Halloween Bash

Happy Halloween! Isn’t it so great that it falls on a Friday this year? Halloween is one of our favorite holidays—no pressure, no gift giving, no traditions, just fun, costumes, and endless creative possibilities. Which is why we love this low-key backyard Halloween bash thrown by Jen Pinkston of The Effortless Chic—it’s full of clever “wild things” costumes, delicious food, and (of course!) creative Minted party decor pieces.

Read on to see all the adorably dressed-up “wild things” and all the party details…

Introducing Minted Maker Nights at the Goat Farm

We are very excited to announce the start of a very exciting series… if you are in the Atlanta area, we do hope you can join us!

A big thanks to Joni Lay for hosting our first Makers Night where we will be making an inspiration board with Minted frames and fabric. We’re hoping to host these nights monthly so you’ll want to check this community page for upcoming Maker Nights. And if you’re a creative type with a teachable skill or craft, please do email PR@minted.com with an idea for a workshop you would like to host.

Art Fair Challenge: Guest Judge’s Picks

We were beyond thrilled to have two of the world’s very best interior designers—who also happen to be prolific and accomplished bloggers—guest judge our recent Art Fair challenge. Paloma Contreras and Tobi Fairley are ladies to keep a very close eye on and luckily, through their respective blogs La Dolce Vita and Tobi’s Blog, it’s easy to do! I know you must be curious about which pieces caught their eye, so without further delay…

Paloma’s pick is “Lone Sunbather on Dunes” by Heather Nash. “This piece has stunning composition and vibrant colors” says Contreras. “I especially love the idea of this beautiful photograph printed on a large scale. It would be fabulous in virtually any room!”

Tobi chose Julie Song Ink‘s “Mingle.” “The first thing that caught my eye is the color—I am known for my use of color and this blue just grabbed my attention. But what really made me select this gorgeous artwork was the movement and excitement created by the swirls and splatters. It actually reminds me of the creative process I go through in my own work. It is a vibrant and electrifying work!”

Thank you, Paloma and Tobi, and big congratulations to Heather and Julie!

Non-Photo Holiday Card Challenge: Guest Judge’s Picks

We were really excited to have two of the hippest ladies we know pick their favorite non-photo holiday card to send out this year. A big thank you to Angela Tafoya and Kate Arends for taking their time to inspire our community. If you’re not already following their work, you’d be remiss not to check out Refinery 29 – SF Edition and Wit and Delight.

Angela Tafoya, an editor at Refinery 29, chose Trimmed Tree by Pistols because “I love the geometric elements in the tree along with the colors used here. It feels very different and refreshing for the holidays.”

Kate Arends was drawn to Fa-La-La-Lettered by Up Up Creative because when she “first saw this design I wished I had thought of it! So clever. I love the modern, clean palette and how friendly and fresh the graphic feels.”

Thank you so much Angela and Kate and big, big congratulations to Melissa Egan of Pistols and Julie Green of Up Up Creative!
