Maja’s Up Up and Away 2nd Birthday Party

By Meta Coleman of One More Mushroom upupandawayparty Both my husband and my daughter have Birthdays right after Christmas.  However much I prepare for their Birthdays beforehand, somehow they still leave me scrambling to get things finished.  This January we celebrated my daughter Maja’s second Birthday.  We kept her party small and simple, inviting the grandparents and serving drinks and Birthday cake.  This year I was happy to use the Up Up and Away balloon party accessories from Minted…

Wallpaper designs by Lisa Bengtsson

By Meta Coleman of One More Mushroom

I have been a long time fan of Wallpaper.  It can instantly add color, pattern, and personality into any room.  I enjoy using wallpaper in my client’s homes and have used a variety of different wallpapers in many rooms in my own home as well.  Because wallpaper can be overwhelming, I like to wallpaper one wall, or wallpaper a smaller space with a more monochromatic or graphic wallpaper.

The wallpaper designs of Lisa Bengtsson are so beautiful and are modern with a touch of vintage.  Not only is Lisa a wallpaper designer, but an illustrator,  Graphic Designer, and ceramic and textile designer as well.

Every year around this time it is a tradition in our family to host a fondue party.  My husband and I enjoy celebrating the holidays with friends and family and there is something so warm and intimate about celebrating over a steaming pot of melted cheese, not to mention it tastes so good!

Holiday Decorating Inspiration

By Meta Coleman of One More Mushroom

The Holiday Season is here and I couldn’t be more excited! I love the entire month of December, we have so much fun celebrating the different German traditions with my family. I really enjoy decorating my home for the holidays as well. I believe holiday decorating should be simple and enjoyable. If you feel like it is in anyway a chore or feel stressed out, you’ve gone too far!

I am so inspired by Swedish design, especially in Holiday decor, it is so classic and simple. I prefer to decorate with natural elements like greenery and straw ornaments. This year I want to mix green foliage with a lot of white accessories. Below are some inspiring decorating ideas that I will be implementing in my home.

Decorating with Pastels

By Meta Coleman of One More Mushroom

This year I have noticed a lot of pastels in furniture and home accessories, particularly the colors pink and mint blue/green. Normally I am drawn to bright colors but I am really loving all the soft colors, there is something so calm and nostalgic about them.  It’s like a modern Scandinavian take on the fifties.

The pastels work in these spaces below because they are not competing with too many other colors or patterns.  There is a lot of white and light wood to compliment the pastels.

Getting Your House Cozy for the Colder Weather

By Meta of One More Mushroom

I really enjoy the different seasons, especially when it’s cold outside and the leaves begin to change color. There is something so inviting about being home, curled up next to the fireplace with a blanket and a warm drink while the weather is blistery outside. Growing up it was very important for my German mother to make our house cozy, or “gemeutlich”.
