DIY: Easy Fabric-Wallpapered Bookshelf

Written by Amy Ehmann of  Design Lotus

Creating a beautiful backdrop for a niche or bookcase can be fun, easy, and commitment-free. This fabric backer is affordable and makes a great alternative to permanent wallpaper. You can even try this in other areas of your home, like the back of a closet or lining the bottom of a drawer. If it gets dirty or you’re tired of it, you can easily peel the fabric off, give the wall a quick wipe down, and start fresh with a new fabric.

Currently Loving: Indoor Foliage

By Amy Ehmann of  Design Lotus

Now that it’s autumn, I’m brainstorming ways to bring the outdoors in by adding indoor plants and trees to different rooms in my house. I love how they add a dose of nature that can be enjoyed all year round.

The schefflera tree (depicted above) is also known as an umbrella tree; I love the lush, tropical feel of the foliage and the sculptural qualities of the stems (they can be braided together to form a piece of living art!). Photograph via Javado Plant.

Currently Loving: Pretty in Pink

By Amy Ehmann of  Design Lotus

There’s something special about the color pink. Whether the shade you love is bold or more subdued, pink never fails to capture your attention and trigger emotions. Case study #1: Neon pink. You can go from ordinary to extraordinary with a pop of bright, neon pink. Use it sparingly though, because it is so bright and can quickly overwhelm.

Stationery Alphabet

The ABCs are not just for kids anymore. Designers love the alphabet! I have several alphabet posters in my home. My kids probably think it’s for them, but it’s really because mom has a affinity for letters and all it’s form…

An Easter Fete

Minted Easter Party

Minted Easter Party

For Easter this year, I traded in the typical bright pastels for something a little more subdued and natural. More neutral for my boys and more organic for me. Minted’s Wooded Bloom dream party suite by By That Girl Press fit the bill perfectly. My color scheme was earthy neutrals, mint green and a pop of yellow for Spring!
