Summer is officially here, which means dining al fresco and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. I search far and wide for the best outdoor patios around my city, but this year I’m dedicating myself to setting up my own outdoor dining area for occasions from parties to a few moments alone with my morning cup of coffee. I love this idea of setting up under a big tree, to give a feeling of an intimate alcove, and have rounded up a few more of my favorite outdoor dining inspirations for you.
This outdoor dinner party via Inspired by This showcases the best of both worlds: a family-style table for a large group and a smaller sitting area for a more intimate conversation or simply lounging. I love how the setting is tucked under a patio (for protection from sudden summer rain showers!) and lit by the warm, inviting strands of lights.
Don’t forget the activities! When I have a dinner party, I love setting up interactive stations where guests can mingle while mixing up their own drinks, like this make-your-own mojito station via Pottery Barn.
This outdoor table setting showcases a creative alternative to the strings of globe lights and outdoor lanterns typically spotted around outdoor dining areas. Made with a bit of lace, a single lightbulb cord, and cross-stitch hoops, these lightweight hanging lamps give this space a whimsical feel.
Most of all, make it comfortable. I can’t get enough of this one—the pillows and cushions and layered textiles, all hidden away in this secret garden. I can imagine myself having a long, lazy morning over mimosas and brunch with just a few of my closest friends.
