Wedding Trends: Pastels, From Lavender to Creme and Sweet Mint Green

Soft shades of ivory, lavender (radiant orchid’s subtle sister) and sweet, sweet mint green are capturing everyone’s heart this season. Creamy ivory is a welcome alternative to stark white and it pairs perfectly with the pastel shades that we have seen in runway, street fashion, interior design and fun spring themed DIY projects for the family.

Summer Hand Fan Favors

Urban Baby bunting and pretty thaumatrope giant confetti used to make simple summer hand fansOutdoor events and warm weather bring the perfect reason to break out fan favors (here in the sweltering south, we’ve perfected the art of fanning up our own breezes!) I’ve assembled a simple hand fan using re-purposed minted confetti and circular bunting. Try them as wedding favors to pull in a colorful pattern, a sweet quote or even a personalized initial. These can be easily assembled in no time flat, but look like you ordered a completely custom fan set.

Design to Dish: Italian Cream Sodas

Written by Melissa of Lulu the Baker

raspberry italian cream soda

I’m completely charmed by the Southern tradition of throwing a Sip & See after a new baby is born! I love the idea of inviting friends and family over for a little get-together to meet the new baby, eat delicious snacks, and drink fizzy drinks–so many of my favorite things rolled into one fun party.

If you’re going to throw a Sip & See, you’ll need to serve a fun beverage. I absolutely love Italian Cream Sodas. They’re delicious and pretty, appropriate for all ages, and you can set them up as a create-your-own-soda bar, which everyone loves. Set out some pretty glasses, some cute paper straws, and some tasty flavored drink syrups, and you’re all set!

Lettered Vase Centerpiece DIY

By Lauren Saylor of A Fabulous Fete

Wedding Decor DIY

This summer, i’ll be watching one for my friends walk down the aisle… which means, we have been in full planning mode recently. One thing that has come up a lot in planning the decor is, how can we take all of that inspiration we find and really personalize it to her and her fiancé. And I think that can be one of the hardest tricks for any wedding. There are sure to be quotes, songs, even little things that you two say to each other that are special. And those are the perfect pieces to infuse into your wedding day decor to give it a personal touch. I only wish I had this realization before our wedding day two years ago! So, here is one simple and cost effective way to add those special words to your centerpieces.

Holiday Challenge Winners’ Trip to San Francisco

Our Let it Snow! Holiday + New Year’s Photo Card Challenge is well underway and it has been so exciting seeing all your submissions come in! This year, like last year, our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners will win a 2-day VIP trip to visit Minted Headquarters here in San Francisco (full details here).

The top 3 winners from last year’s ‘Oh What Fun’ Holiday Card Challenge came out for their own VIP trip last month and we had a great time showing them around the Minted office and our beautiful city. Here are a few highlights from our trip with Minted Designers Jill De Haan, Eric of GeekInk Design, and Karly of Oscar & Emma.

Eric, Jill, and Karly at that iconic spot!

Minted Community Artists are serious celebrities to everyone here in the Minted Office. Our employees were anxious to hear all about the visiting designers. Jill, Eric, and Karly were kind enough to answer lots of juicy questions from Minted employees in a friendly Q&A. We talking about everything from how they got started in design to their favorite (and least favorite) personal works and what their weirdest Pinterest boards are.

easter decorating
I don’t know what it’s like in your area, but in Denver things are still very brown and bare. So I decided to bring spring indoors with this grassy decor that would make a great backdrop for your Easter brunch spread.
