By Melanie of You Are My Fave
My husband and I have been married for over seven years but last Christmas was the first we actually had a real tree. The excuses were legitimate – cramped apartment, no money, traveling during the holidays, no kids to enjoy it. But even though that stopped us from having a traditional tree, I didn’t want it to ruin my attempts at being festive. So for those few years, I would make an unconventional tree to display. Here’s an example of a tree that housed our presents underneath it one year.
All you need is:
- a piece of poster board
- tape in varying colors
- round white labels
Step one: Start by creating the outermost triangle with long strips of tape. Then continue placing your strips of tape, following the lines of the original triangle, until the space is filled.
Step two: For a white Christmas, add the white labels for the look of snow.
Nontraditional? Yes. But does it do the job? You betcha!
