Decorating with Plants.

By Victoria Smith of sfgirlbybay.

With fall upon us, the leaves changing, and the chill coming in, it makes me want to fill my home with greenery even more these days. Something about the fresh green vibrance of these house plants and arrangements gives the space a sense of life and keeps me motivated to work which is why I’ve always loved decorating my space with plants. Here are a few of my favorite ideas to bring green into your own home or office.

These first two come from Bri of Design Love Fest. She’s also a huge fan of filling both her living and work space with green plants, and I’m quite fond of the Fiddle Leaf Fig tree she has in her home.

Floral arrangements are a classic way to bring plants into your space. A few months ago, San Francisco florist, Tulipina brought in some gorgeous custom arrangements for my own home – including a few fun surprises like fresh lemons, dogwood, and clematis to name a few.

Jon and Nina Hans exclaim, “Our favorite thing about our home is how it feels like a jungle in the midst of all the concrete in Los Angeles” and have filled their first home together with numerous hanging plants paired with fun, vibrant floral prints that appear throughout the rooms and achieved through custom upholstery.

Nathan and Katie Williams of one of my favorite magazines, Kinfolk, bring the outdoors into their kitchenthrough both live plants on their counters and by hanging herbs and flowers to dry from above.

And last, but not least, this super fun DIY project from A Beautiful Mess shows us how you can turn an old ladder into a beautiful display stand for your own growing plant collection.
