clay letter cake toppers

By Melanie Blodgett of You Are My Fave

The next time an occasion calls for cake, forgo the tacky toy toppers and personalize your very own message by making these letter toppers. They take less than an hour (including baking time) and can be used over and over again. You might just want to make the entire alphabet to keep on hand.

- polymer clay
- alphabet cookie cutters
- bamboo skewers

Step One: Roll out your clay to desired thickness. Remember, they need to sit on top of a skewer without breaking apart.

Step Two: Use your letter cookie cutters to cut out the clay to spell out your desired message.

Step Three: Poke a hole in each letter with the end of the skewer.

Step Four: Bake according to package directions.

Step Five: Stick skewers in holes to create toppers.

Step Six: Spell out your message and stand up in cake.

The best part is you can spell out anything so it works for any occasion. Because just as Julia Child said, “A party without cake is just a meeting.”

I love this idea. I’m going to make these for the top of my wedding cake for sure! Thanks for sharing :)

Awesome idea!! You can probably make it out of fondant, too, so it’s edible – just in case a little guy decides to take a nibble :)

  4. This is so genius! You could make the alphabet with multiples of a few letters then write any message you want depending on the occasion! I’m so gonna do these.
