frozen chocolate banana pops

Frozen chocolate covered bananas were a summertime staple in my family. There was an old fashioned ice cream shop near my dad’s work that sold them for 25 cents a piece and we would always get excited when he came home with a big brown paper bag. So to celebrate summer (and reminisce a bit) I decided to make my own and package them to share with neighbors and friends. Here’s the simple how to:

Supplies:

  • bananas
  • 1 c chocolate chips
  • 2 T coconut oil
  • lollipop or popsicle sticks
  • paper bags
  • printable designs (one, two, three)

Step one: Peel bananas, insert sticks, then place in freezer for at least one hour.

Step two: Melt chocolate chips with coconut oil in 30 second increments until completely smooth.

Step three: Dip the frozen bananas into the melted chocolate which will instantly harden. Stick back into freezer until ready to package and deliver.

Step four: Tape the paper bags, one at a time, onto an 8.5×11 sheet of paper. Then send each one though your printer to print the designs directly onto the bags. Fill with the frozen bananas and deliver to your neighbor’s porch. Just make sure they’re home so a puddle of melted chocolate isn’t left on their stoop.
