cardboard popsicle photo backdrop

Tomorrow is the first official day of summer, hip hip! To celebrate I like to throw a party where only frozen treats are served, hot fudge is flowing, and jimmies are plentiful. This year for a little additional fun I thought a photo booth was in order, so I whipped up this festive cardboard popsicle backdrop.

Supplies:

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic paint
  • Foam brush
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Tape
  • Peg board
  • 1/4″ dowel pins (I reused the ones from this sign)
  • Hot glue gun

Step one: Create a popsicle shaped template and trace it onto the cardboard, then cut it out.

Step two: Top cardboard with a layer of acrylic paint. Let dry.

Step three: Adhere popsicle stick to the back of the cardboard popsicle with tape.

Step four: Lay the finished popsicles on top of the pegboard and measure out where your dowels need to go and put them in the holes. I used three dowels per popsicle.

Step five: Put a dot of hot glue on top of each dowel and press the popsicle firmly on top to adhere.

Step six: Hang up for guests to pose in front of. Yay for summer!
