Minted Design Grant Winners

By Jen Casebeer, Community Editor

We’re so proud and excited to announce the winners of our first-ever Minted Design Grants! This year, we decided to offer three $4,000 grants to reward and nurture fresh, innovative design: two student scholarship grants and one open design grant for anybody and everybody.

First off, thank you so much to everyone who applied. We received hundreds of applications from very gifted artists with a wide array of talents and passions. It was truly inspiring to see such dedicated work. Awarding these grants was no easy task! So after a grueling process, we are thrilled to announce and congratulate the first-ever Minted Design Grant recipients!

Student Design Grant Winner:

We were thoroughly wowed by Angie Fu. We loved her passion for integrating technology and fine arts. Her innovative website sealed the deal. Clicking on each piece was like unwrapping a present. What an impressive and eclectic portfolio!

Journals, Stationery, Thank You Cards, Oh My! Special Prize Winners

By Jen Casebeer, Community Editor

Get ready to relive some seriously fun challenges… we have compiled not one, not two, but three of our past challenges to announce all our special prize winners in one super-post! In our ‘Thanks a Million’ Thank You Card Challenge and Journal and Stationery Gift Challenges, we asked the Minted Design Community to spice up these categories with unique pieces for our design-savvy, modern customers. What an amazing outcome! Congratulations to the special prize winners who stood out in all the categories below:

The Thanks A Million Thank You Card Challenge

Typography Award for the best bold, simple, and modern design relying on typography to showcase a name and/or thanks

Big Diamond Thank You” by Laura Jordan

Laura knocked it clean out of the park with this symphony of type, color, and geometry. We’re wild about the prisms of color that seem to refract off of each letter, creating beautiful angularity and tricky optical illusions. The simple heart is the perfect finishing touch.

Little Journeys and Inspired Art Special Prize Winners

By Kirsten Wolfe, Minted Art Team

Little Journeys: The Nursery, Children’s, and Family Tree Wall Art Challenge

There is something magical about decorating a child’s room. We want the best for our children and look to use elements that will inspire and educate them. Art can help stimulate their imaginations, yet soothe them at the end of a day. These special prize picks from our Little Journeys Nursery, Children’s, and Family Tree Art Challenge do just that. Congratulations to our winners!

Part of the proceeds of the sale of these pieces, as well as those from our entire children’s collection, help to fund Every Mother Counts, a charitable organization founded by Christy Turlington Burns to increase education and support for reducing global maternal mortality.

DIY: “Eyes for You” Classroom Valentines

By Jenny, Hank and Hunt
When I was shopping the valentine selection on Minted, Henry was peeking over my shoulder. We have a thing for monsters and aliens here at casa H+H and pretty much anything NOT PINK for valentines. This cute card seemed like the perfect choice. I had the idea to add something extra to the card and a little white lollipop that looked like an eyeball was dubbed AWESOME by my favorite 6 year old…

Note from the Editor

By Liz Stanley, Managing Editor

Last week a couple of the editors and I were able to attend the design blogging conference, Alt Summit in Salt Lake City where Minted was a sponsor. We got to hear insight from our favorite bloggers, and rub shoulders with some fantastic hot shots like Jessica Alba, Stefan Sagmeister, and Chris Anderson. During the sessions, Minted had gorgeous booth in the lounge area put together by Natasha who heads up PR and Olivia, our DIY editor here on Julep. It showcased some of the new Minted party products and allowed participants to create their own bunting banners. Minted also hosted a dinner for a few of the participants the night before the conference started. A fantastic week all around!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love, Liz + The Julep Editors
