Green and Gold St. Patrick’s Day Party

St. Patrick’s Day is easily overlooked when it comes to crafts, baked goods, and DIY’s. Personally I don’t feel the need to have any St. Patrick’s Day decor, but you know me, I love to party. So in case you need a reason to celebrate or just eat some really yummy sweets, here are some fun green and gold ideas to get you in the mood. I mean, who wouldn’t enjoy some shamrock-shaped macaroons with Bailey’s chocolate ganache? This pregnant lady is not saying, “no.”

Animal Bookends

By Rachael Smith, Penelope & Pip

As a book lover I’m always on the lookout for a pair of cute bookends. I have been searching for animal ones for ages, but the ones I’ve fallen in love with are a bit out of my budget.

So I thought I’d get my glitter on and make some cute elephant bookends myself.

Glitter is such a fun medium to work with (especially when it’s hot pink!) and the kids will love helping you make a new little addition to brighten up their shelves.

On the Wall Art Special Prize Winners

By Kirsten Wolfe, Minted’s Art Team

Our On the Wall Art Challenge marked our largest number of art submissions yet – over 1,400 pieces from a growing group of artists for the community to evaluate, and our curatorial team to review. Our team was enthralled by the quality of the work and we were pleased to see both new and old members of our community expand the breadth of imagery and original media.

We developed a wide array of special prizes that were designed to push the Minted art envelope – and our community responded. We are very pleased to announce the following winners by category. Congratulations to these artists below.

 Edgy Photography Award

Construction” by Becky Nimoy

Jutting girders and an intersecting grid reveal a construction site set against a monochromatic sky. Look again and the image yields a highly contrasted series of lines to create a work of abstract beauty. Referencing iconic works in photographic history, this piece highlights a moment in time and captures the dynamic of the unfinished.

Note from the Editor

By Liz Stanley, Managing Editor
elcapitancanyon

This time of year I get a little stir crazy to travel. The past weekend my husband and son and I took a must needed camping trip in Big Sur with some friends and it was the perfect little getaway. I need to check out these safari tents above in El Capitan Canyon (image above) for another weekend trip. Any fun trips on the horizon for you?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love, Liz + The Julep Editors

PS We are looking for paid design post submissions for Julep for the We Heart Design category.  If you’re a designer (a Minted designer or otherwise) please check out our submission form right here.

DIY Giant Painted Wall Confetti

By Jenny, Hank and Hunt

Have you been pinning wall confetti like mad? I know I have. I can’t get enough of it and it is everywhere. From little vinyl stickies (I just used some copper ones for a recent party) to simple paper ones in all the colors of the rainbow, wall confetti isn’t going anywhere soon. This weekend I was making a hand-painted birthday sign for Henry’s upcoming 7th birthday. The blue and aqua colors were so cool on the black card stock that I thought I would try a variation for confetti…
