Today I’m thrilled to announce our Special Prize winners from the Summer is Born Birth Announcement Challenge. Summer has just about ended, but we’re still celebrating the staggering number of beautiful birth announcement designs. Here are the Special Award Picks, as chosen by Mariam and the Minted team. Congratulations to all—you really delivered (no pun intended)!
Best Multi-Photo Design
“Sweet Stork” by Three Kisses Studio
“Sweet Stork” incorporates the best of both worlds: multiple photos and an adorable illustration to help introduce the new baby. The three perfectly framed photos at the right are the stars of the show, while the pink stork illustration and fun use of type, texture, and color make the design unique and playful.
“Nine Square” by wondercloud
We’re not at all surprised by this Customer Favorite design. The gorgeous block of photos paired with the unique blend of bold and elegant fonts really stands out in the crowd. The white background and subtle detail text allows for the maximum amount of adorable baby to shine through!
Best Over-the-Top-Pretty-While-Still-Modern Design
“Vintage Eyelet” by Kelli Hall
Kelli has such a way with subtle and modern design. When you add a beautiful floral background and an adorable baby to the equation, jaws drop. Everything about “Vintage Eyelet” screams classic beautiful while the gold script name and uppercase information text are so chic and contemporary.
Best Boy Design
“Mr. Helicopter” by ERAY
This colorful and whimsical design definitely captures the spirit of a bustling baby boy. ERAY’s wonderfully illustrated happy helicopter and cloud are full of personality and pizazz. The retro feel of the color palette and typography rounds out the design so nicely and adds tons of charm.
Best Girl Design
“Beautiful Girl” by Ana Sousa
Ana takes type as an illustration to a whole new level in this design. Sweet leaves accent the branches that form the words “Beautiful Girl.” The photo is framed neatly by pink blocks with a slightly distressed texture and classic type. It all comes together so sweetly to announce the arrival of a new little girl.
Best Design That Could Work for Either Boy or Girl
“Classic Banner” by Corey David Helling
We love how Corey’s modern design mixes bold type and colorful graphic shapes. The well executed alternation of upper and lowercase type guides you to all the most important bits of information while the curvilinear quality of the photo frame and graphics helps soften the design to create a fun, lighthearted announcement for a little boy or girl.
Best Twins Design
“Pure Monogram” by toast & laurel
A classic family monogram anchors Megan’s perfectly graceful design. “Pure Monogram” intersects somewhere between elegant and sweet and we love the interplay of the fonts and white space giving this sophisticated design a modern feel.
Best Full-Bleed Photo Design
“Lacy Paper” by Susie Allen
The gorgeous papel-picado inspired “baby” text in Susie’s “Lacy Paper” is truly a work of typographic art. The white used for the text softens the overall feel of this delicate design and helps bring your attention to the photograph of the sweet little one.
Best Adopted Child Design
“home sweet home” by Jennifer Wick
Jen’s passport inspired design is perfect to celebrate an adoption. We love the stamp graphics that help honor the country of origin. The soft colors, subtle texture of the background, and simple type treatment keep the design sweet and modern.
Minted Mentor Pick as chosen by our lovely Minted Mentors, Amy Ehmann of Design Lotus and Sydney Newsom
“Welcome to the World” by nocciola design
Say the mentors: “Of course it was hard for either of us to choose from so many gorgeous entries. But in the end – we both loved how Jessica’s design breaks out from the current trends. It stands out against a sea of pretty folksy floral designs. The sentiment is simple, sweet, and to the point alongside the most adorable earth illustration ever! =)”
Congratulations to all our winners!10 COMMENTS
