I know this has been brought up before but Minted has made a lot of changes and the older threads and thoughts have become a bit stale (and lengthy). Minted genuinely wants to help out the design community in every way possible. So, let's make a new wishlist of things we would like to see. Ann brought up the option of being able to zoom in to see the details of designs during the voting stage (an excellent suggestion).

What else would you guys like to see/have access to? What can Minted do to make your experience as a designer better- whether it be as a designer in general or as a designer for Minted, specifically?

One thing that's frustrating about the forum here is that unless you use your minted.com username it's hard to tell who you're talking to. I, personally, would love to be able to put a design with a name, blog, etc. This may get tangled up with the whole privacy issue, but it would be great if when you clicked on a forum member's name you were given the option to link to their minted.com designer's page. Is this possible and I'm just not seeing it?

Until then, I thought we could start a thread that ties all our secret identities together. So if you're in, post a comment with your screen name, your minted designer name, and your blog or website if you have one, your etsy store, and maybe the first minted challenge you ever entered.

By the way I used "Mighty Mintie" Design Lotus a.k.a. Amy's instructions for inserting a link into my post and you can too:

Make sure to format comments as html

<a href="INSERT FULL WEB ADDRESS HERE">INSERT LINK TEXT HERE</a>

Example -
<a href="http://hannahcloud.wordpress.com/">Hannah's Blog</a>

Good evening Minties! I received a check today from Minted for my "Untitled: The First-Ever Minted Art Print Challenge" designs, but I thought it would contain all winning designs through the month of March. Is that not the case? Are checks mailed out individually for each challenge? And is a commission check simply just commission? I am not sure how this works exactly, since I have only begun winning challenges recently. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Ashley

I searched through the discussion boards to see if this has already come up (and I apologize if this is beating a dead horse). It was touched on a little in the "Mintie Eyes Are Everywhere" thread, but I'm interested in everyone's input on pinning your own work to Pinterest. I briefly started an account for my business and was pinning up my designs, but then quickly yanked them down after the copyright bru-ha-ha came to light (that you basically give your rights to Pinterest to use pins however they like-what?). However I feel like a lot of people go to Pinterest to look for stuff before they even use Google sometimes, so it's a huge opportunity to 'get found' by a potential client. But my husband chimed in with a good point that people who are looking on Pinterest aren't looking to buy something, they want to DIY something, so posting up my work is just giving people ideas to use for themselves. Plus I feel like it's a little bit of an abyss; I found a funny art print that was repinned by a creative studio who didn't give credit back to the original creator. I tried to track it down and just went in circles. That part of it kind of stinks.

SO, being wise and awesome designers, what is everyone doing? Pinning or not pinning? I feel an inevitability coming about but I guess I need a push.

Thanks!

I have a bride who is looking to have some sort of a Celtic design incorporated into a circular monogram/motif for her wedding invitations. I have searched everywhere online and even went to the bookstore to try and find something to work from and have come up with nothing!! I have spent way too many hours trying to come up with something on my own and am getting no where (it does not seem like it would be that difficult but somehow, I just can not wrap my mind around it.. I am not the type of person to give up but I am beyond frustrated at this point : ( I am hoping that someone in the amazing group of talented designers might have some experience creating this sort of thing or may have any suggestions for where I can find help with this? I would love to be able to just find something to purchase to incoporate into it and be done.. the idea is to have an initial in the center of a circular celtic motif. The tricky part for me has been finding something to work within a border (meaning, she does not want the design to stand alone, she wants it knocked out of a ring shape) Hard to explain.. Any help would be so incredibly appreciated : )

thanks, kerri

I would love more info in our sold emails. It's so great to hear when we get a sale, but I have no idea if my print that sold this week was an 8x8 or a larger size or what color sold. From what I understand, there will be more information in a quarterly statement, but it would be helpful to have that information upfront.

Thanks!!

-Loree

Thought it would be fun to share the worst advice a colleague, professor, friend, frenemy, or family member gave you regarding your career! This probably isn't the worst advice I've ever received, but it still bugs me when I think about it. My main design professor in my senior year who had an ego larger than life, would ALWAYS say that we were only as good as the last design we created. So even now, when I create a design that is okay, but not, wow great, I start to feel like a crummy designer. Then I have to remind myself that even he created some stinkers in his career!
